Biographical history

In 1982 Edmonton Working Women was formed to protest the undervaluing of work that women do. Edmonton Working Women is a working women's collective based on feminist principles and is located in downtown Edmonton, Alberta. Members of Edmonton Working Women share a commitment to working towards the full equality of women, in both the workforce and society in general. Since its creation, Edmonton Working Women has worked to provide woman-to-woman support, campaigned for the concerns of women, acted as advocates for working women, and has built links with organizations working in the interests of working women. Services provided by Edmonton Working Women include booklets published by the organization, a hotline women can call when they receive unfair treatment at work, legal advice, forums, workshops, and conferences.

The fonds consists of a handbook and insert for women in the Alberta workforce.
