Biografie
Edmonton Working Women (EWW) was formed in 1982 to protest the undervaluing of all work women do, whether in the home or in the workforce. The EWW was a non-profit, feminist organization dedicated to providing woman-to-woman support. EWW was an advocacy group and served as a link among women, both unionized and non-unionized, and the labour movement. The objectives of the organization were:;To campaign in an ongoing manner for the concerns of working women. To support efforts to organize unorganized women workers. To build links with organizations working for the interests of working women. To act as advocates for working women. To stimulate research on working women's issues. To work toward socio-economic equality for women. The EWW operated a hotline for women seeking advice and support when they encountered unfair treatment at work. The EWW researched and published booklets to help women select the best course of action to resolve a workplace issue including legal advice. The EWW also held free forums and workshops, film nights, walked picket lines, initiated public protests, organized conferences with participants from other provinces, and joined forces with other political groups.
