Biographical history

Born in Poland in May, 1914, Eduard B Fox came to Alberta as an immigrant with his parents in 1920. Fox was raised in Edmonton, educated first at Concordia College from where he graduated in 1936 before going to St. Louis to complete his studies at the Seminary by 1940. Fox married Katherine Loscheke in 1941 with whom he had three children. He served first as an assistant pastor in the congregation at Camrose, Alberta before assuming the role as pastor at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Calgary. He also had a special ministry among the deaf in Wetaskiwin, Saskatoon and Regina as well as Calgary, and was involved with the Walther League organization. He left Calgary in 1946 and answered a call to Redeemer Lutheran Church in Didsbury where he oversaw a building program. Fox's next call was to Redeemer Lutheran Church in Edmonton where he served from 1961 to 1972, followed by five years at Hope Lutheran Church in Port Coquitlam, British Columbia. During his terms with various churches Pastor Fox also served the ABC District in a number of capacities including as Secretary and Vice-President, as Chairman of the Department of Social Ministry, as Chairman of the Mission's Department, and as Circuit Councillor. Eduard Fox died in 1977.

The records were deposited with the Lutheran Historical Institute by the family of Rev. Fox.

This fonds consists of an agenda, hymnbook and Slide Presentation notes (nd); Correspondence and Call Documents (1941-1972) - Immanuel Lutheran Church, Calgary (1941), Redeemer Lutheran Church, Didsbury, (1946), closing sermon at Didsbury, Redeemer Lutheran, Edmonton 1962, Hope Lutheran Port Coquitlam, BC 1972; Service Bulletins from churches and funeral service (1977); St. Louis Seminary year books (1937-1939) and 100th Anniversary publication (1939); Materials relating to Dr. Walter A Maier including a memorial booklet, a brochure on his Lutheran Hour Fund and the sermon preached at Maier's funeral.
