Biographical history
Edward Hockey was born at Birmingham, England in 1864, and came to Canada with his wife and two children in 1910. They travelled over the Edson Trail to the Grande Prairie District in 1912, buying an existing homestead and making improvements on a quarter section about five miles west of the new community. Later, they filed for a new homestead in the same area. In 1913, he taught for Lake Saskatoon School District 2518 on a provisional certificate. Mr. Hockey was killed in a runaway horse and cutter accident in Grande Prairie in 1926. He is buried in the Grande Prairie Cemetary.
