Biographical history
Edward C. Porter, d.1983, was a mountaineer, photographer and book in Chicago, United States. Porter began collecting mountaineering books during the 1930s and took up mountaineering in 1938. He became a Life Member of the Alpine Club of Canada in 1948 and donated his extensive library to the Club in 1961.
