Biographical history

Elmer Garfield Fullerton, 1892-1968, was born in Pictou, Nova Scotia. He served overseas with the CEF during First World War. From 1920 to 1923 he was a bush pilot for Imperial Oil Ltd. In 1923 he rejoined the RCAF and became the chief flying instructor at Camp Borden, Ontario. By his retirement in 1946 he was commanding officer at the RCAF No. 9 Flying Training Station, Trenton, Ontario. He was awarded the McKee Trophy in 1938 for meritorious contribution to aviation and received the Air Force Cross in 1945. He and his wife, Avis, had three daughters. The fonds consists of pilot's log book (1918-1919); lectures, speeches and articles about flying and the air force; photographs of family, military career and personal life; correspondence and newsclippings.
