Scope and content

The Ag Society-Fall Fair Committee was formed in 1973, representing a transfer of event governance from the Rose Leaf Rebekah Lodge No. 109, whose membership continued to oversee most aspects of the Fair for many years.

The Fall Fair is a one-day event usually held the first Saturday in October, with judging taking place in the morning and open public viewing in the afternoon. When the Fair was held at the Curling Rink, the day ended with an auction of the food entries. Since moving to Milo School in the early ‘90’s, the finale is a BBQ Beef supper put on by the Parent Teacher Group, followed by an Awards ceremony. Judged categories including Vegetables, Grains and Seeds; Home Baking, Cooking and Canning; Hobbies and Handicrafts; and a full range of Junior Categories. Other sections of the Fair showcase commercial displays, Community Interest displays, raffles and other contests.

The series consists of a letter of transference of Fall Fair governance, Annual Reports, Judges’ Forms, Financial documents, Fair Booklets and a hand-drawn poster.

The series has been divided into the following sub-series: Governance and Minutes, Financials, Judges Forms, Promotional Material.
