Name of creator
Frank Bernard Jamerson was born in the Athabasca area in 1922. His grandparents were African American immigrants from Alabama and Texas. They arrived in Canada about 1910 with several other families and settled in the Athabasca area - Poplar Ridge, Rene Creek or Amber Valley and Stock. Mr. Jamerson worked as a sleeping car porter for the railway and became Secretary Treasurer of the Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters. He is keenly interested in maintaining the record of black settlement in Western Canada.
Scope and content
The fonds consists of materials created or collected by Frank Bernard Jamerson from 1914 and 1988. The fonds consists of correspondence relating to Mr. Jamerson's family and the history of the northern Alberta black communities. There are some copies of family photographs, clippings related to African Americans and Canadians, and copies of the anniversary booklet of the Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters.

The fonds was donated to the City of Edmonton Archives by Mr. Frank Jamerson in 1988.
