History
Edward Reston Frost, 1864-1943, was born in West Wynch, Norfolk, England and came to Calgary, Alberta in 1891. He worked on the building of the Calgary and Edmonton Railway and the first waterworks system before opening his own plumbing and heating business. He was one of the early residents of the North Hill before the First World War. During the war he enlisted in the 89th Battalion and after a short time returned to live on his son’s farm at Black Diamond. Frost later farmed at Condor, Alberta before retiring to Calgary. His wife Mary Frost, ?-1949, was a member of the Salvation Army. They had four children, Esther May “Essie” (Roughton), 1894-1980, Walter Ernest “Ern”, 1897-?. Muriel Irene (Buckler, later Riley and Wallace), 1896-1963, and Donald. Muriel married Eric Buckler, ?-1915, who established a ranch and creamery near Black Diamond. When Eric died in the First War his ranch was operated by Ern Frost.
