Administrative history

On June 26 and 27, 2002, the leaders of the world's most industrialized countries, the G8, met in Kananaskis, Alberta. They were to make critical decisions that would have global impact. An alternative forum offering a means for the views and concerns of all the world's people to be expressed and considered was held June 21-25, 2002 in Calgary called the G6B (Groups of 6 Billion - reflecting the entire global citizenry). It offered a forum to generate and discuss ideas and solutions that would promote economic activities beneficial to people living in all parts of the world while also reflecting respect for human rights and the environment. William (Bill) Warden was the Coordinator for the University of Calgary's involvement in G8 Summit activies. Bill Warden and Joan Morgan from the International Centre were the primary personnel of the G6B/G8 office.
