Biographical history
Gerald Donovan Trevelyan Murray-Dixon, 1891-1982, was born in Leicestershire, England and immigrated to Canada in 1910 to attend Bradfield College ranch school near Calgary, Alberta. He worked in the Lesser Slave Lake area, particularly around Grouard, for a while, in part working on the Edmonton, Dunvegan and British Columbia railway. Murray-Dixon served in the 49th Battalion in the First World War and was involved in the battle for Vimy Ridge. He returned to the Peace River area near Berwyn for a time and also served on steamboats. Murray-Dixon married Molly Mary Warren in 1927 and in the late 1920s moved to Turner Valley, Alberta.
