Biographical history
Gladys Edith Bowling was born in Perth County, Ontario, August 30,1902. She came to Edmonton ca.1908 with her parents -- her father, William Bowling, was a painter for Canadian Northern (later Canadian National) Railway. She attended McDougall Commercial High School, where she met her future husband, worked as a telephone operator and stenographer for Edmonton Public School Board, ca. 1920-1927. She married Merrill D. Muttart in 1927. She was a long-time campaigner for diabetes treatment, for which she received numerous honors, including an honorary doctorate from Mount Allison University, Sackville NB in 1964. She died Nov. 28, 1969.

Scope and content
The fonds includes programmes and score cards of the Edmonton Commercial Grads basketball team, programmes of the Edmonton Rotary Minstrel Revue, and an Edmonton Eskimos hockey game, postcards and tickets to an Independent Order of Odd Fellows picnic draw.

The collection was donated to the City of Edmonton Archives by Mrs. H.E. Mildon, Gladys Muttart's daughter, in 1970.
