Biographical history

Bertha Grace Studholme was born to John and Willena (McBroom) Studholme in Edmonton, AB on 25 March 1901. Later she attended the University of Alberta where she competed on the Varsity Ladies Basketball Team and was the president of the Wauneitas Club, a social club for women students. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1925 and earned an education diploma, also from the University of Alberta, in 1932. She pursued graduate studies at Iowa State College and earned a Master of Science degree in 1948.

Grace Studholme worked as a Home Economics teacher in Edmonton at Oliver Junior High School, University High School, and Victoria High School. She died in Edmonton on 4 February 1996.

Custodial history

Grace Studholme collected the records in this collection and donated the material to the Provincial Archives of Alberta in 1969.

Scope and content

The collection consists of programs, pamphlets, and photographs. Programs include events for music festivals and events held in Edmonton by the First Presbyterian Church, the Jubilee Auditorium, McDougall United Church, and the Edmonton Inauguration. Pamphlets cover such topics as temperance and the Canadian Manufacturing Association. The photographs depict McDougall Church classes, McKay Avenue School, Victoria High School, and others.
