History

Augustus Griffin, 1883-1946, was born in Visalia, California, USA and attended the University of California, graduating in irrigation engineering. He worked for the Modesto Irrigation District from 1906 to 1912, then with the Truckee Carson Project. In 1914 he moved to the San Joaquin Irrigation District and in 1918 to Calgary, Alberta to work for the Canadian Pacific Railway in their irrigation developments. He eventually became manager of the CPR's Department of Natural Resources. He and his wife Corinne had three children, Margaret, George H. and Gus Maddux.
