Biographical history

Author, 1879-1944. Though mainly a writer of detective stories, Hulbert Footner also wrote a book about his travels to northern Alberta (<i>New Rivers of the North</i>, 1912), during which most of these photographs were taken.

Fonds consists of these series: I Correspondence (1913). H.W. McBride to H. Footner, describing life at Mile 189, Grand Trunk Pacific Railway, British Columbia; includes 14 photographs. II Photographs (1911). Edmonton, Lesser Slave Lake, Peace River, Hay River, Fort St. John, Fraser Canyon (126 images). Most captions are taken from Mr. Footner's notes.
