Administrative history

The Junior Forest Warden program began in 1930's due to the large amount of forest fires that were occurring in British Columbia. Members pledged themselves to care for Wood, Water, Soil and Wildlife. The Hythe Junior Forest Wardens were originally organized in Goodfare by Ann and Vern Steinke. The club eventually moved to Hythe where Irene McCallister took over with help from Vicky Miller, Ali Jenner and Knute Knutson. The Hythe club held events to raise money which included raffles and bake sales, as well they helped with the Highway clean-ups and donations from sponsors. In 1980 the Jr. Forest Warden program celebrated their 50th Anniversary.
