The "Left Turn Only" lane takes vehicles onto Alberta Highway 2 North. Today the segment of Highway 2 passing through Calgary is known as Deerfoot Trail and it intersects with 17th Avenue SE just east of the Cushing Bridge. 17th Avenue SE, the original alignment of Highway 1, was designated Highway 1A in 1949 when Highway 1 was rerouted to follow 16th Avenue North.
