"APTN HDTV Training Lab" : [agenda]

File consists of two copies of the agenda for the workshop, which was held May 25-28, 2009. The program description reads: "Participants in the HDTV Training Lab will be brought together with industry professionals and mentors from The Banff Centre to do hands-on training in high definition television production. Through a combination of formal training sessions and on location activity, participants will develop skills in project creation and will be key individuals in creating the final broadcast quality product.

The HDTV Training Lab at The Banff Centre is presented in partnership with The Aboriginal People's Television Network. The Aboriginal People’s Television Network has committed to going fully high definition in the very near future, but realized that there is a shortage of Aboriginal high definition content to show. This led the network to look to the Banff New Media Institute because of its history of training opportunities as well as the HDTV technology it possesses, and in partnership have created a training lab to address the need in the production community for skill advancement in high definition production.

Aboriginal People’s Television Network is supporting this training program for Aboriginal producers and broadcasters. This program is small enough for hands-on training and will provide an overview of the unique concepts and characteristics of high definition production. Participants will already have production experience, so the content of the workshop will outline specific tools and technology, provide the participants with the opportunity to briefly experiment with it, and highlight critical similarities and differences in production techniques. It is designed to be an overview of key concepts; an opportunity to become more familiar with HDTV."
