Beveridge's Furniture Co. (M2009.23.2);Monarch Investments (M2009.23.3):;Monarch Investments was created by Joseph Yuill with the development of his broadcasting business and became its President and General Manager. Monarch Theatre Company became Monarch Investments Company Ltd in 1945 and owned the majority of shares of CHAT TV and Radio. Monarch Realty (M2009.23.4);A company that appears to have been started by Harry Clinton Yuill, Joseph Yuill's father. Caltana Safflower Products (M2009.23.5);Monarch Broadcasting (M2009.23.6):;In 1946, Joseph Yuill applied for a broadcasting license and in November of that year CHAT Radio went on the air. In 1957, Joseph was granted another license to begin a television service affiliated with his radio station. CHAT-TV began programming September of that year. Monarch Investments owned CHAT TV. CableVision (M2009.23.7):;Joseph Yuill became a partner when CableVision began its operations in Medicine Hat in 1964 and purchased the total of its shares in 1969 to add to his CHAT Radio and CHAT TV businesses. Monarch Investments was one of the stockholders of CableVision. Alberta Linseed Oil Company (M2009.23.8):;Harry Yuill and John McNeely founded the Alberta Linseed Mills Co. in 1912 after gaining experience with their first company, the Medicine Hat Milling Company. McNeely was made President, General Manager, and Secretary Treasurer, while Yuill was the Vice-President. In 1918, the company was bought by Brandram-Henderson Ltd. of Montreal, and W.A Church became Manager. The company name was changed to Alberta Linseed Oil Co. In 1934, the Yuill family joined with Church and purchased the company back, with Church made Vice-President and General Manager until he sold his share of the company in 1953. In 1951 the shareholders of the company confirmed the purchase of Burnside Farm by H.H Ranches, which was owned by Alberta Linseed Oil. Joseph Yuill's children inherited the company when he died. This series has information that relates to H.H Ranches and Burnside Farm. H.H Ranches (M2009.23.9):;The information in this series frequently references and has ties to the series Burnside Farm. H.H Ranches also owned the Bar 4T Ranch in Patricia, Alberta. The Ranch in Patricia was sold around 1963. Burnside Farm (M2009.23.10):;The information in this series frequently references and has ties to the series H.H Ranches. Burnside Farm was purchased by Joseph Yuill in 1946 for $45,000 from A.P Burns. The farm was placed as a subsidiary to Alberta Linseed Oil. In 1951, Burnside was re-purchased by H.H Ranches and placed under its control. Alberta Potteries (M2009.23.11):;Built in 1941 and stationed in Redcliff, this was the first of J.H Yuill's independent business ventures. The business supplemented the production of the Medicine Hat Potteries, creating mixing bowls, crocks, beanpots and teapots. In 1950, Joseph Yuill also created a division of Alberta Potteries, known as Altaglass, with John Furch in charge of production. Alberta Potteries purchased the equipment of Altaglass from an Ontario company, the Glass Guild. There is only a selection of correspondence and order invoices from 1950 - 1952. Alberta Clay Products Company (M2009.23.12):;Founded in 1909, the company originated with a group of businessmen from Iowa. Stock in the company was divided equally between American and Canadian interests, with H.C Yuill and John Dixon of Maple Creek becoming the major Canadian Investors. The company became incorporated under Alberta law in 1913. Full operation began in late 1910, the official opening on November 26. Harry Yuill joined the board of directors in 1913. In 1918, Yuill and his partner John Dixon gained complete control of the company. Dixon became President, and Yuill General Manager. When Dixon died, Yuill retained both positions until his own death in 1944. Joseph Yuill then became President and General Manager until 1955 when the company was sold to Marwell Construction of Vancouver. Some of the information in this series also references the series Medicine Hat Potteries. Medicine Hat Potteries (M2009.23.13):;Created in 1937, it was a sub-company of the Alberta Clay Products, which manufactured semi-porcelain whiteware. This company was run by Joseph Yuill, who was Vice-President of the Alberta Clay Products since 1927. The Medicine Hat Potteries was in direct competition with Medalta potteries. When Harry Clinton Yuill died in 1944, Joseph Yuill became President and General Manager of Medicine Hat Potteries. He ran the company until 1955 when it was sold to Marwell Construction of Vancouver. Some of the information in this series also references the series Alberta Clay Products Company.
