Fonds consists of the administrative and operational records created, accumulated, and used by the Parks section at the City of Red Deer between 1950 and 2014.

The types of records included are correspondence, minutes and agendas, memoranda, reports, plans, maps, drawings, computer disks and optical discs, and video cassettes. The topics covered by the records include budgets, Alto Reste cemetery operations and maintenance, tree planting, landscape maintenance, Lion's Campground, Waskasoo Park, City Hall Park, Rotary Recreation Park, Discovery Canyon, Riverside Athletic Park, policies and procedures, Communities in Bloom, Red Deer River flooding, Bower Ponds construction, picnic shelter, Heritage Square, Central Alberta Regional Trails Initiative Report (CARTS Report), Cross Country Ski Club, Red Deer BMX Club, Festival of Trees, Carnaval de Red Deer, CBC's Hockey Day in Canada, fish stocking, homeless camp reports, sports field inventories, mosquito control, war grave maintenance, garden plots, Urban Wildfire Management, and Red Deer River Corridor Integrated Management plan.

The fonds consists of: an extensive collection of individual portraiture, family and group sittings, wedding parties, commercial advertising for local businesses, as well as a random photographic record of community events, disasters etc. 4 audio cassettes with interviews giving oral histories of Gainsboro Studios (1986).

Consists of minutes plus related documents (1947-2015, incomplete); Society papers including constitutions, bylaws, and incorporations records; administration records including membership, financial reports, guest registers, and insurance; historical research including written biographies, 45 audio recordings and interviews of early pioneers (1950-1981), over 30 video interviews conducted as part of the Living History project (2011-2021) as well as subject files, student papers, and records of the Preservation and Research Committee; special projects such as Altaglass inventories and sales, centennial projects (including working towards a new museum building, and the short-lived Historic Resource Development Alliance; Publications including the Bulletin and Smoke Signals newsletters (1972-2008), as well as miscellaneous historical materials including Cummins Rural Directory maps, pamphlets, envelopes and other minor ephemera.

The fonds consists of architectural plans of the Mount Royal house, designed by Calgary architects, Holman and Gotch.

Fonds consists primarily of photographs taken by Lowrie Streatch around Red Deer and central Alberta. All images have been described at the item or envelope level. Images primarily consist of buildings in Red Deer, Penhold, and elsewhere, events such as the Westerner Exhibition and auctions throughout the area, and images of agriculture, farms and rural areas in Central Alberta.

The fonds consists of students' creative works, and records of reunions of former students.

This fonds consists of copies of the school registers of the Porto Bello School,
copies of the Porto Bello Community Society Annual Returns, and business administrative records of the Porto Bello Community Society including minutes, financial records, and document regarding the arrangement of the Porto Bello reunions. The fonds also contains photographs and a DVD of the Porto Bello Community Society Events.

The fonds consists of four photographs and two documents. The photographs are of Jack Crerar in 1924 and Doug Crerar ca. 1940, Bear Creek Bridge ca. 1915, and a Winter Carnival ca. 1924. The documents are a program for the “First Annual Banquet of Grande Prairie Conservative Association at the Empire Hotel Monday, January 17, 1916”; and a program for the “Third Annual Peace River Musical Festival on May 25 and 26, 1927 at Grande Prairie Alberta.” There is also a legal sheet of paper containing a short history of the Alexander and Sarah Crerar family produced ca. 2000.

Dr. Lloyd Austin ran a religious commune on his homestead on the NE6-71-5-W6, southeast of the City of Grande Prairie. This land was homesteaded by Dr. Lloyd Austin ca. 1930 and turned over to Billy Blair after the Austins left the area.

William “Billy” Blair was born in 1886. He worked as a camp cook for Henry Selby, who surveyed land east of the fifth meridian, in 1905.

William Blair died in 1995 and is buried in the Grande Prairie Cemetery.

The material in this collection contains records related to Dr. Lloyd Austin’s religious commune.

The record consists of 15 photographs of the dilapidated buildings of a religious commune located on the NE 6-71-5-W6, on the banks of Bear Creek south-east of the City and one 40-minute oral history.
