Carrie-Ann Lunde fonds

The fonds consists of a draft copy of the results of Carrie-Ann's research: "The Athabasca Clay Products Company collection at the Royal Alberta Museum". A bibliography is also included. The Athabasca Clay Products collection at the Royal Alberta Museum began with a donation in 1986. In 2006 150 pieces of pottery were donated by the company's owners, Ed and Phyllis Polanski. In 2008 Carrie-Ann Lunde worked as an intern for the Royal Alberta Museum gathering information on the Athabasca Clay Products.

The collection consists of 98 photographs and 59 negatives of buildings in the Town of Athabasca. They have been described as a collection because they all pertain to buildings that are, or have been, located in Athabasca.

The fonds consists of 28 photographs collected by Don Stephenson of a [1927] Edmonton-Athabasca-Peace River Highway motor tour; pictures of Athabasca buildings; and the 1944 flood. The Athabasca buildings include: All Saints Anglican Church, Imperial Bank of Canada, Grand Union Hotel, Municipal Hospital, Public School, and views of Skinner Street and Wood Avenue, Baptiste Lake, ferry, cable cage and grain elevators.

Athabasca Pottery Discovery Day collection

The fonds consists of newspaper articles, magazine articles, e-mails between Conrad Biernacki and Marilyn Mol, financial information, a press release, bookmarks, the event program which contains historic information, and thank-you letters. The magazine articles, written by Conrad Biernacki, are in the May/June and July/August 2009 editions of Discovering Antiques edited by Jan Mather. The posters were designed by Jen Luckay, an employee of Athabasca University. The artifacts include bricks and brick pieces and a shard from a turned pot from Claude Thillett's Brickyards (1912-c1919). The potter was probably Ewald Walden.

Pottery Discovery Day was special event was held June 21, 2009 in Athabasca and celebrated the use of Athabasca's clay, in both pottery and brick form, from 1909 to the present. Athabasca Clay Products (ACP) 1964-1968, founded by Ed Polanski, was emphasized. Guest speakers included organizer Conrad Biernacki, Royal Ontario Museum; Cathy Roy, Royal Alberta Museum; Carrie-Ann Lunde, Alberta Museums Association; Marilyn Mol, Athabasca Archives; collectors Gene and Gail Sabo; founding potter of ACP Alfred Messerli of Switzerland; former employees Ed Pohranychny, Terry (Knittle) Rains, and Dorothy Nielsen; and Athabasca Pottery Club member, Rosie Guay.

G. Roger Graham photograph collection

The fonds consists of 19 color photographs of the inaugural run on the Alberta Resources Railway—the three hour trip on the final day of the conference. Photographs show the train, the scenery and the dignitaries who were passengers on this trip. A few of the photographs are of a welcoming banquet at St. Joe’s High School and ceremonies marking the opening of the railway.

The fonds consists of 30 survey blueprints and town plans of Benville, Sexsmith, Laglace, Valhalla, and Buffalo Lakes; one 1928 Department of the Interior and four 1917-1922 Surveyor General maps of the Peace River District; one Prairie Farm Assistance Act map from 1955; and three blueprints of houses from the 1950s, one of them produced by the Veterans Land Act department. Maps are stamped with C.R. Gathercole, Real Estate & Insurance, Sexsmith, Alberta. Also included are copies of information from a underwriter's manual cover

United Grain Growers Local #432 collection

The fonds consists of a written history of U.G.G. in Sexsmith compiled by D.H. Fraser in 1985. It includes a list of the U.G.G. managers at Sexsmith from 1925 to 1985, a list of the Chairmen, Secretaries and other members who were involved with Local #423, and some newspaper articles regarding the opening of the 1964 elevator.

The fonds consists of a collection of farm booklets and 1 cm of farm business receipts belonging to Olaf Kildal and Ralph Johnson, dated 1929 to 1963, from Alberta Wheat Pool at Sexsmith; C L Larson, General Merchant, La Glace; P.M. Haugen Garage, LaGlace; Buffalo Lake General Store; Buffalo Lake Service Station; Shannon & Son, Sexsmith; Sexsmith Garage Co; Mac Perkins Garage, Sexsmith; Maple Leaf Garage, LaGlace; Olson's Garage, LaGlace; E.G. Edey Equipment, Sexsmith; McKinnon Equipment, Grande Prairie; UFA Co-op; and other miscellaneous receipts. The booklets, dating from 1920-1963 include Norweigen immigration literature from Olaf Kildal; Ration Recipe cookbook from WW II, Wheat Board permits and Alberta Hail Insurance Board booklets from the early 1950s, and information on Credit Unions published by the Credit Union League of Alberta. There is also a 1959 Prairie Farm Assistance Act Crop Report, a poster for an Allis-Chalmers tractor, and a report card from Northfield School.
