Conrad Stephens fonds

The fonds consists of Conrad Stephens' memorabilia from the Dumbells, the musical and comedy troupe formed by the 3rd Canadian Division during the First World War which amalgamated with the PPCLI Comedy Company. After the War the troupe continued to tour Canada and the United States until 1929. Consists predominantly of publicity photos and portraits of the performers, many of them autographed. Includes a portrait of Stephens in his wartime uniform, a portrait of him as a veteran in the 1950s, and newsclippings about a reunion concert of the PPCLI Comedy Company mounted in 1955.

The album largely consists of publicity photographs (many autographed) and programs documenting the activities of the PPCLI Comedy Company and its successor, the Dumbells. Includes a nominal roll (compiled 1968) of all members of the Comedy Company from its formation on 1916 May 16 to its amalgamation with the Dumbells on 1918 Nov 12. Includes materials created 1916-1968. Includes published magazine articles: Jack McLaren, "Mirth and mud", Maclean's Magazine, 1929 Jan.1, Mar. 1, May 15; Alan Murray, "The Dumbells", The Legionary, 1952 May, reprinted 1965 Jan.; Jack McLaren, "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Trenches", Weekend Magazine, 1967 Nov 25. The collection consists of obituaries, death notices, funeral programs, honour rolls, in memoriam lists, cemetery records, and correspondence documenting the deaths of members and former members of Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry. Most of the files are arranged by year of death.

PPCLI biographical sketches collection

The collection consists of biographical sketches and résumés of senior officers and senior non-commissioned officers of Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry (PPCLI), as well as a few notable war heroes and other personalities associated with the Regiment. It became customary in the Canadian Armed Forces to distribute résumés of the careers of senior officers for purposes of reference. Appointments or retirements of senior officers were often publicized in media releases containing biographical information. The PPCLI Regimental Museum collected these résumés and media releases, as well as newsclippings and other types of biographical articles.

The collection consists of portraits of Colonels-in-Chief, Colonels of the Regiment, Commanding Officers (COs) and Regimental Sergeants-Major (RSMs) of Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry, its Battalions, and other units, along with short biographical sketches and tables documenting the dates of change of command.

The fonds consists predominantly of copies of photographs documenting Copp’s experiences in parachute training, in the Korean War, and on leave in Japan.
