Fonds consists of records created and collected by Dr. Bercuson over approximately twenty years, predominantly in his professional roles as author, scholar, colleague and consultant. The fonds is arranged into five series, including: (I) Publications and research notes, 1973-1977, 1982-1998; (II) Conferences and speaking engagements, 1985-1998; (III) Consulting and professional activities, 1986-1997; (IV) Media involvement, 1983-1998; and (V) General academic and administrative correspondence, 1977-1998. Series I, III, and IV have been further subdivided due to the extent and nature of the records they contain.

The fonds contains correspondence, questionnaires, interview cassette tapes, CD copies, transcripts, photographs and other material compiled as research for the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry Regimental History Book project. Also included are draft copies of chapters of the book written by Dr. David Bercuson.
