The fonds consists of vol.12 no.2 of the Canadian Journal of Native Education published by the Department of Educational Foundations, Faculty of Education, University of Alberta. This special issue featured an article entitled "Northland: the founding of a Wilderness School System" by John W. Chalmers, which chronicles the formation and first years of operation of this division. The Mennonite Service Organization, headquartered in Indiana, recruited young college graduates to serve as missionaries in underdeveloped parts of the world. A number of them taught in the Northland School Division.
