Norman Stone fonds

The fonds consists of various materials reflecting Norm Stone's interest and association with aviation in the Yukon. The photographs depict airplanes at different locations in the territory, and they include photos of pilots Lionel Vines, Ev Wasson and Don Dixon. Norm Stone's flight logs have entries between March 18, 1934 and December 7, 1940, during which time he made flights between Whitehorse, Dawson City, Mayo, Carmacks, Atlin and other communities. There are newspaper clippings concerning Buck Stone and fellow pilots in the Yukon. There is also a cassette recording on which (side 1) Norm Stone provides a narration for a film he took of the annual Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) tour of the Yukon in 1939, and (side 2) there is an interview with Stone regarding his aviation experience in the Yukon on September 20, 1974.

Paul Forrest fonds

The fonds consists of photographs and text acquired by Forrest during his years in the Yukon. The photographs depict hockey and baseball teams, including the 1905 Stanley Cup challenging hockey team from Dawson City, Sheep Camp, Bennett, Whitehorse Rapids, sternwheelers, Five Finger Rapids, Dawson City street scenes, roadhouses, mining scenes, First Nations potlatches and dances, and Sitka and Wrangell, Alaska. Many of the photographs were taken by Goetzman. Much of the textual material arose out of Forrest's friendship with Buel, and includes letters, sketches, and newspaper clippings of Buel's caricatures. There are also letters to Forrest from other people and a letter from donor Constance Valois to the Yukon Archives giving some family history, 1980.

The collection consists of copy negs. and prints from some of the glass plate negatives and photographs taken by Barley, Eric Hegg and other photographers held in the Sincic collection at the Alaska Historical Library, Juneau. The photographs show Skagway, Dyea, other areas of Alaska, and White Pass and Yukon Route (WP&YR) trains, ca. 1898-1910.

The fonds includes original prints and slides taken by Cartter in 1942, during the construction of the Alaska Highway. Images are of the road, construction scenes, army crews, vehicles and equipment preparing the road bed and building bridges. There are a number of images of timber and pontoon bridges crossing Edith Creek, the Donjek, Slims and White Rivers, as well as photographs of army tent maintenance camps at Whitehorse, Kluane, etc. The ferry at Takhini River Crossing is also the subject of a few prints. There are images of the Yukon communities of Burwash, Champagne, and Whitehorse and a number of scenic views and panoramas taken in the Slims River, Kluane, Edith Creek and Donjek River Valley area.

Ray Roper Hicks fonds

The fonds consists of a copy of Dr. Ray Roper Hicks' handwritten diary kept during his time in and around Atlin, B.C. from March to August 1899. Once there, Dr. Hicks spent most of his time frequently visiting Pine, Spruce, and Willow creeks. Place names mentioned en route to Atlin include the Tepe River, Otter Lake, Golden Gate, and Taku Arm.

The fonds consist of copies of Rev. Sim's appointment and ordination papers, 1881; 2 copies of his diary, handwritten and typed, June 1, 1984 to August 26, 1984, and January 14, 1885, which describes his interaction with the natives and their customs and beliefs; a copy of Sim's last letter to the Bishop, April 3, 1885; extracts from letters written August 1885 by Rev. Spendlove and Bishop Bompas after receiving news about Rev. Sim's death; a letter written by Sim describing his work and published in the Church Missionary Intelligencer, February 1886, "Voice from an Arctic Grave"; letters from the archivist at the Church Missionary Society to Mrs. T.V. Ralph with information about Sim, Canham and Wigram; a genealogical chart of the William Sim family up to 1986; an article by Marjorie Almstrom about Sim and the donation of his records to the Yukon; and a summary written by Christine Roe of her visit to Canada and the search for her great-uncle's grave at Rampart House, 2002. Also included in the fonds are a copy of a photograph of Sim and a CD which contains scanned images of diary pages and various MS WORD documents found in the previously listed files.
