Back and Bee family fonds

The fonds consists of photographs taken from the Back and Bee family photograph albums by Austin Bee in 1989, and prints made of slides taken by Austin Bee on a return visit to the Yukon in 1963. The photographs album contained shots of the families' lives in the Carmacks area. Most of the photographs were taken by Lois Back Bee who was an amateur photographer and did her own developing and printing. Ida May Back and Austin Bee took some of the photographs. The fonds also includes letters written by Austin Bee in 1989 and 1990, to Yukon Archives and Pelly River Historical Society detailing his family's history in the Yukon. The prints of the slides from 1963 show Carmacks buildings, including the Goulter's cabin, the Post Office, the Carmacks Roadhouse, the diesel electric generating plant, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) building, Carmacks Hotel, Tom Bee's Trading Post, Howard and Alice McMillan's residence, the Carmacks school under construction, and Carmacks residents, Fritz Guder, Frank and Ida May Goulter, Bill Langham, and the postmistress, as well as Austin's travelling companion Colonel Frank Noyes. There are also views from the Mount Freegold area, Seymour Creek and the Nordenskiold River.

Yukon River Basin Committee collection

Collection consists of photographs and textual records. The photographs were removed from the Yukon River Basin Study project report, no. 4: "An Assessment of the Fisheries Resource in 18 Lakes Within the Yukon Territory, Canada", by Aileen Horler, R.A.C. Johnston, G.M.W. Cronkite in 1983. The textual records were collected and prepared by the Energy Work Group of the Yukon River Basin Committee. There are 85 files of photocopied excerpts from energy-related reports. Files 86-88 contain a card file index to the reports, photocopied cross-references to the reports, and a chronology of upper Yukon River studies, 1946-1968.

Fonds consists of reel-to-reel and cassette copies of the presentations at the Yukon Placer Mining Forum held in Whitehorse, April 28-29, 1980 and on April 23, 1982. Speakers included government representatives, consultants and mining company representatives. Subjects discussed included geology, regulations and policies, exploration techniques and economic issues.

The fonds consists of correspondence, financial records, statistics, reports, and personnel records that were generated by the Yukon Petroleum Fuel Pricing Inquiry. It also includes questionnaires, reports and published materials acquired from various sources and used for reference and evidence, as well as a set of transcripts of the proceedings. Also included is a copy of the final report, "Public Inquiry Into Petroleum Fuel Pricing In The Yukon Territory". The fonds is arranged into the following series: Correspondence; Financial Records; Legislation; Personnel; Proceedings; Publicity; Reports; Research; Transcripts and Exhibits.

Yukon Order of Pioneers fonds

The fonds consists of textual records and photographs described in four (4) series. The series are Yukon Order of Pioneers (YOOP) (82/454), Grand Lodge (82/454, 83/31, 90/55), Dawson Lodge #1 (82/2, 82/454, 85/47, 86/92) and Whitehorse Lodge #2 (84/40). The series Yukon Order of Pioneers consists of membership accounts, applications, registers and index 1894-1958. The Grand Lodge series consists of by-laws, minutes, correspondence, financial records, membership accounts and applications dating 1887-1986. The series Dawson Lodge #1 consists of minutes of 1972-1977, membership list 1943-1962, and photographs. The series Whitehorse Lodge #2 consists of application for membership 1966-1972 and minutes and attendance 1967-1980. The fonds also consists of eight b&w photographs of Dawson City residents, members of the YOOP, and Orr & Tukey freight building in Dawson City (1900-1940). There is a printed program titled "Yukon Order of Pioneers. Golden Jubilee Celebration of the Klondike Gold Rush of '98 and Fifty-Second Anniversary of Discovery Day 1896 - Tuesday, Aug. 17 - 1948". There are records of the Yukon Order of Pioneers Ladies Auxilliary that are unprocessed (97/59). A second unprocessed accession (2000/47R) consists of records from the Grand Lodge and Whitehorse Lodge #2. They include a History Scrapbook 1966-1996, minutes, newspaper clippings, photographs and membership lists.

Yukon New Democratic Party fonds

The fonds consists of executive records, sound recordings, photographs and a poster of the Yukon New Democratic Party, 1969-1992. The first accession, from 1969-1974, contains five files of correspondence and election expenses. The sound recordings are of the party's Founding Convention in 1973 (82/483). The second accession, from 1973-1985, includes caucus notes, correspondence, election notes (federal and territorial), copies of speeches, federal NDP executive records, minutes of Yukon NDP executive meetings, delegates' election campaign funds, policies, reports, records of ridings, and lists of contributors, 1973 to 1985. The photographs are of elected members and campaign workers, NDP campaigns and events (89/18R). There is also one election poster (93/24). Three accessions are still in process. One accession contains Yukon NDP records covering the period (1983-1985) when Max Fraser was secretary and president of the Party and when Tony Penikett was secretary and then Leader of the Party (90/35). The second accession contains the financial records for the years 1985-1992 and Executive Minutes for the years 1983-1991. There is also territorial election sign information for 1989 (95/48). The third accession consists of NDP caucus records including case work files, and one box of maps and drawings. The maps and drawings relate to Vuntut Gwich'in First Nation land claim agreement, various architectural structures, and elections (96/80).

The fonds consists of the records of the Yukon Law Society, 1971-1992, including correspondence, minutes, financial and personnel records, reports, sound recordings of a conference, and reference material. The records document the creation and development of the Law Society, and are arranged into the following series: Administrative Records; Executive Records; Financial Records; Personnel/Membership; Discipline Committee; Yukon Law Foundation; and Canadian Bar Association - Yukon Branch.

This collection includes photographs of the eight Superior Court judges of the Yukon Territory since 1898 that were collected in commemoration of the Klondike Gold Rush centennial. The judges portrayed, in order of their appointment, are Horace Thomas McGuire (1897-1898), Calixte Aimee Dugas (1897-1912), James Craig (1900-1912), Charles Daniel Macaulay (1902-1941), John Edward Gibben (1950-1958), John Parker (1958-1968), Harry Charles Bishop Maddison (1969-1999), and Ralph Edward Hudson (1993- ).

Yukon Indian Cultural Education Society fonds

The fonds consists of some corporate records of the Yukon Indian Cultural Education Society, created 1973-1975, including a budget proposal, list of Board of Directors and appendices for the budget proposal. There are sound recordings of Tommy McGinty telling native stories and legends, recorded by John Ritter at Pelly Crossing, ca. 1960-1988. Also included are 4 home movies transferred to video tape. The movies, possibly filmed by Clara Schinkel, depict "Indian Days" in Tagish in 1979.
