Fonds consists of two series: I. Photographs and II. Textual records. Series I is divided into two sub-series: Lantern slides and Prints. Lantern slides sub-series consists of four sub-sub-series: A. Alpine activities and landscapes, [ca.1913-ca.1925], 130 items; B. Mountain parks and views, [ca.1925], 129 items pertaining to Banff, Kootenay, Yoho, Glacier, Jasper and Waterton National Parks; C. Natural history and resources, [ca.1913-ca.1925], 79 items pertaining to wildlife, flora, bison, snow formations and forestry; D. Other views, [ca.1925], 32 items, including Canadian scenes and other collected views. Prints sub-series, 1922-1923, pertains to alpine activities, landscapes and family. Series II. Textual records include financial papers of Malcolm Geddes, a family tree, poetry, articles concerning mountaineering, and correspondence relating to the Geddes family, 1914-1994.

Fonds consists of photographs and postcards of the Banff area, Bow Falls, Chateau Lake Louise, Jasper Park Lodge, as well as 1 photograph of Heinie, the Russian pony. Four b&w photographs of Bow Falls, Chateau Lake Louise, Jasper Park Lodge and one of Heinie were taken in 1927 by Miros Thom. The date of Marianne Thom Anderson's trip to the Rocky Mountains is estimated at 1920.

Fonds consists of scrapbook of correspondence and newsclippings compiled by Nancy Lyall regarding her career, the Alpine Club of Canada, mountaineers, Banff personalities, family and friends, 1930-1950s; letter of reminiscences, 1968; and photographs pertaining mainly to Alpine Club activities, also mountain scenic views.

Fonds pertains to dog sled racing at the Banff Winter Carnival and in Calgary and Ottawa. One item is a photographic Christmas card from Gordon E. Standish. Eleven of the prints are likely by W. J. Oliver; some have his imprint.
