Anton Joseph Schinkinger fonds

The fonds consists of photographs of: Athabasca & District Board of Trade sign near Westlock (1948), Nick Evasiuk, pier on Tawatinaw Creek (1950s), Bob, Colin and Vince Preece; Anton (Tony) and Kurt Schinkinger, the first store and its replacement store built in 1975, Valentine (Val) Breckenridge, Riverside Recreation Area sign, 1971 parade photo and the Steve Berezan family. Tony wrote an article entitled "Reflections of the old swimming hole" and an article about his time in the navy. The artifacts are a postal scale, two photographs framed with an article from the Athabasca Echo newspaper of Aug.25, 1982 regarding the family business, and a plaque commemorating the closing of Schinkinger's Mens Wear in Feb. 1992. 22.12: Fourteen photos recording the ceremony opening secondary highway 813 in September, 1989, "The Gleaner," 1938 Athabasca Public School yearbook, program from 1961 50th anniversary, program from 1967 Centennial play, program from 1971 60th anniversary.

The fonds consists of 1890 and 1896 newspaper articles from Edmonton; a brief history of Athabasca Landing as the See of the Anglican Diocese of Athabasca; a 1948 Christmas card with photos of both Athabasca churches; an application form for the hostels; 1959-1960 and 1961-1962 photos of the Hostel gang; April, 1990 booklet "Setting aside moving on" commemorating All Saints' Anglican Church as it is demolished and a new church is built on the site; Feb.3, 1991 consecration of the new All Saints' Church; a 1997 program for the "Burning of the Mortgage"; a few sheets on the history of the church from 1990-2006; a short history of the stained glass window from St.Mark's Church, Plum Lake ; a brief history of St. Alban's Church, South Athabasca including the Women's Auxiliary; and a program of the 100th anniversary of the Parish of Athabasca, 1893-1993. The photographs include Plum Lake Church, and the 1960 All Saints' choir. The books include 1876 New Testament in Cree syllabics, pub. in England and other psalters and prayer books including the 1909 Presbyterian Book of Praise. Two Athabasca Clay Pottery vases, approx 10 x 10 cm and 9 x 13 cm in natural and black glazes.

The fonds consists of a report on the Athabaska District that would be useful for settlers to the area. Maps and photographs are included. Also included are agricultural and demographic statistics for the provincial constituencies of Sturgeon and Athabasca from 1901-1921. The photographs are copies from the book and include the Athabasca-Smith Trail and Pine Creek (Amber Valley).

The fonds consists of correspondence between Dr. Hinther and the Athabasca Archives; a newspaper article from the Athabasca Advocate of June 20, 2006; a Toles School preliminary approach paper; a media release; an invitation for Athabascans to meet Dr. Hinther and Anne Newlands at the Athabasca Archives; a Toles School interview questionnaire; and promotional material for the CMC including 2 DVDs. On October 30, 2006 CTV interviewed Dr. Hinther; a DVD copy was purchased. In 2007 a framed "Memorandum of Cooperation and Understanding" between the Canadian Museum of Civilization and the Athabasca Archives was given to the archives. In 2008-2009 additions included: a Toles School interpretive grid and diagrams, and four roller display banners with metal stands. In 2021, a CD-ROM of Dr. Hinther touring the Amber Valley Cultural Centre was added.
