Ella Patterson fonds

The fonds consists of a photocopy of Ella Patterson's handwritten diary and another typed copy. There are daily entries from February 13 to April 23, 1911, describing the trip with her husband, John Orlando, to Grande Prairie over the trail from Edmonton, to Athabaska Landing, across Lesser Slave Lake to Grouard, then down to Sturgeon Lake, across the Simonette River to Bezanson and finally to the Grande Prairie. She mentions the conditons of the trail, the many stopping places and other travellers they met. Also included is a photocopy of Eliza and Alphaeus Patterson's family and a genealogy chart.

The fonds consists of executive records such as constitution and by-laws, legal agreements and insurance records; membership lists and applications for original and succeeding members in the Old Timers' Association; financial records beginning with the first cheque issued by the organization; correspondence and activity files; material related to special events; and files for the creation of "Pioneers of the Peace", a book they published in 1976. There are also some copies of placemats used at the Old-Timers' Banquets, two over-sized posters, one listing the executive members over the years and one listing the scholarship donors and recipients; and a photograph album (ca. 1910-1915) containing photographs from the collection of W.D. Albright.

Of the 327 photographs, 110 portray surveying in the Peace Country from 1909 to 1911, 5 picture life on the Tuffill homestead, and the remaining 212 are of Mr. Tuffill’s service in WWI and family and photographs from England. There are also 72 postcards from Canada and abroad.
