XV Olympic Winter Games, Olympic Photograph Collection fonds

  • CA ccg ccg-2081
  • Collection
  • 1977-1988, predominant 1981-1988

The fonds consists of approximately 40,000 photo images (prints, transparencies and negatives) created or commissioned by the Communications Group, one of the six Groups which made up OCO. Most of them are from the Information Services Division. Some, mostly duplicates of those from Information Services, are from Products and Advertising and from Community Relations. All of this material is in English. Most of the images are in colour, the transparencies are 35mm and enclosed in slide cases, and photo prints are 8 x 10" or smaller. Some of what are referred to as negatives are in fact internegatives made from transparencies. This material is in very good physical condition. These photo images were commissioned and created for the purposes of publicizing the 1988 Olympic Winter Games before they occurred, of educating people about the Games, and of documenting preparation for the Games and the Games themselves. OCO'88 used them as research material and as a record of its activities. City of Calgary. Board of Commissioners fonds

  • CA ccg ccg-2049
  • Fonds
  • 1909-1975

The fonds consists of records created by the Board of Commissioners. The records can all, with the exception of the Convention Centre files, be described as correspondence or subject files. From their establishment until the present, the Board of Commissioners have used simple file classification systems to arrange their files. These systems changed over time and the series, determined by the archivist, reflect changes to the classification system rather than changes in the types or nature of the records created. The first series consists of records created from 1909-1931 (predominant 1909-1921), the second from 1923-1945 (predominant 1923-1929), the third from 1945-1949, the fourth from 1950- 1959, the fifth from 1960-1970, and the sixth from 1971-1980. A separate series has been created for the records relating to the Calgary Convention Centre. Town of Forest Lawn fonds

  • CA ccg ccg-2070
  • Fonds
  • 1934-1963

The fonds consists of by-laws, council minutes, the Secretary Treasurer's files, agreements, and assessment and tax records. When the Town was annexed each City of Calgary Department was incrusted to examine the Town's records and to incorporate the appropriate records into the Department records. The bulk of the Forest Lawn municipal records were taken over by the City Clerk's Department and the Finance Department. Although they appear to have been largely unaltered, some files contain correspondence and other documents dated after the Town was annexed in 1961 December. Both the Secretary Treasurer and the Town Engineer were hired as City of Calgary employees, and they continued to update a small number of files until 1962-1963. By-laws, council minutes, voters' lists and assessment cards were closed records at the time of annexation, and were unaltered by City of Calgary employees after the 1961 annexation. Series I: Consists of by-laws, 1934-1961. Series II: Consists of council minutes, 1934-1961. Series III: Consists of the Secretary Treasurer's files (1954-1963), which include correspondence, memoranda, reports, studies, briefs, receipts and invoices. Series IV: Consists of agreements, 1955-1961. Series V: Consists of assessment and tax records, 1936-1961.
