Avery and Ida Winchell fonds

James Lillico family fonds

The fonds consists of farming records belonging to James A. Lillico including farm lease agreements, a permit book, promisory notes, invoices, daily market prices from the Alberta Wheat Pool for 1934, a Hudson's Bay Company map (1933) and 33 photographs of harvesting and families, schools and hospitals, parade floats, missions at Shaftesbury and Dunvegan, and the Dunvegan ferry.

The fonds consists of a research file on the history of the York Hotel; the original ledger from the Edmonton Hub Hotel which purchased the old Grande Prairie Hotel for its liquor license, and subsequent financial records for the City Hotel Co. Ltd. until 1987; menus from a variety of food and bar services which operated within the hotel; inspection reports; promotional material; correspondence and contracts relating to operations; a payroll ledger and some miscellaneous employee records; and documentation showing the interaction between the York Hotel and the community of Grande Prairie.

Ray Menard Alaska Highway collection

The fonds consists of 92 photographs taken during the time Ray Menard worked as a mechanic and machinist on the construcion of the Alaska Highway between 1942-1943, including base camps, equipment and storage, winter road construction, summer construction, wrecks and spills, bridge work, and the Dawson Creek explosion. Included is a typed notation of photographs which have been identified and a newspaper article describing the Dawson Creek explosion and notes from an interview conducted by Linda White, his daughter.

There is also a taped interview of Leo Auger talking about the Lanctot and Auger families.

The fonds consists of Elmer Borstad's personal papers, records as alderman and mayor including pages from a large scrapbook, records and photographs of involvement with the Chamber of Commerce and Northern Alberta Development Council, a scrapbook of records (1978-79) related to his nomination as candidate for the Progressive Conservative Party and subsequent election as MLA for Grande Prairie, a scrapbook of records as chairman of the QEII Foundation and head of the MRI capital campaign (1997-1999), and records of his chairmanship on the Capital Campaign Committee for building additional student residences at GPRC. There is also a mylared copy of a full-page 1959 advertisement "marking 12 years of service to Grande Prairie & District" , a booklet "The Canol Adventure" written by Mr. Borstad, and a photograph album detailing Elmer's involvement with RCSCC Micmac Squadron Sea Cadets (1955-1966), including photographs of the first Wrenette Corps in Alberta established in Grande Prairie in 1957.
