Photograph collection

The sub-series consists of photographs and negatives collected by Isabel Campbell, documenting the history of Grande Prairie and area and also showing Isabel's own home and garden. The images cover a wide range of topics.

The photographs have been numbered following the approximately topical system created in 2000 when these photographs were digitized by the University of Calgary. Miscellanous, unnumbered photographs and negatives were assigned numbers at the end of the series.

Glass Negative collection

The sub-series consists of a collection of glass negatives taken by Cameron White for The White Studio in 1936-1937 and passed on to Isabel by Gerald Carveth, president of the Old Timers Association.

Reference Collections

The sub-series consists of early promotional materials and maps of the Peace River Country; six placemats of drawings of pioneer buildings by various artists; and four reference booklets (Interesting Facts about Grande Prairie, 1930; Edmonton to Peace River and the North Country, 1920-21; The Peace River Country Canada, 1930; and the Peace River Land Recording Division).

Historical Writings

The sub-series consists of scrapbooks containing copies of Isabel's column in the Herald-Tribune from 1955-1997, and a finding aid she created to document the subject of those articles. The series includes a copy of "Grande Prairie, Capitol of the Peace", which Miss Campbell wrote in 1969; a letter from the University of Alberta regarding the publication of her father's letters as "Challenge of the Homestead"; and the guest book which she kept from 1989 to 1992, showing the number of people who visited her to request information about historical topics.

Financial Records

The sub-series consists of financial records kept by Miss Campbell on her home in Grande Prairie: survey certificate, tax assessments, mortgage details. An insurance policy is accompanied by a set of black and white photographs detailing her possessions and the interior of her home.

Art Work

The sub-series consists of pencil sketches, pencil crayon and pastel drawings, and a scrapbook containing hand-made cards made by Myrle and Isabel in the late 1920s. There is also a 1929 National Art School Certificate from Chicago, Illinois.

Correspondence

The sub-series consists of some of Isabel's business and personal correspondence, the majority of it dealing with her Canadian and United States citizenship and letters between her and the editor of The Sentinel Tribune in Bowling Green, Ohio.

Baby Book

The sub-series consists of the baby book the Campbell’s kept for Isabel and includes a small number of photographs within the book.

Slide Collection

The sub-series consists of 35mm slides taken of the south and central Peace Country, particularly the Clairmont area, of landscapes, farms, and settlements, old buildings, Grande Prairie Regional College, trips to Hudson’s Hope (including dam construction), Peace River, Athabasca, Slave Lake, Yellowknife, Kakwa, Two Lakes, Monkman Pass, Nose Mountain, on the Smoky River, Grande Cache, Edmonton, Fort Providence and Hay River (NWT), Trumpeter swans, balloon championships, and art in nature.
