Horseshoe of the Peace Historical Society fonds

The fonds consists of files created for the production of "Tales, Trails and Gumbo", the history book for the Cotilion, Silver Valley and Fourth Creek districts of the south Peace River Country of Alberta. Files include the history of the society; township maps showing original land owners, old trails and roads, and community buildings; and 416 individual family stories or historical submissions for "Tales, Trails and Gumbo." Many of the stories are hand-written by family members. Also included are anecdotes, poetry, art work, five photographs, and one sound recording. A list of the stories is roughly equivalent to the index of the book.

Spirit River Settlement Historical Society fonds

The fonds consists of records of the Spirit River Settlement Historical Society including executive records and records of their History Book Committee which consist of planning documents, financial records, minutes and correspondence, and original and/or edited copies of submissions to the Spirit River history book Chepi Sepe. The first sections of the Book Committee records include a history of the general region and the Spirit River Settlement area, the coming of settlers and the growth of agriculture, businesses, industries, municipal governments, the history of veterans of WWI and WWII, schools, churches, medical facilities, and cultural and recreational groups. The second main body of the records contains original and/or edited copies of over 630 family histories arranged in alphabetical order by surname.

The fonds consists of Lozeron family photographs; personal papers and correspondence of each member of the immediate family -- Pierre, Dora Koberg Lozeron, Paul, Homer and Andre; farm documents from as early as 1915; farm account books from the 1930s to the 1960s; farming information from the 1950s and 1960s files according to the UGG filing system; and correspondence from their extended family members in Switzerland, friends and family members in Canada and the United States. The correspondence dates back to 1910, when the Lozeron boys first left Switzerland.

Francis Victor Tanner fonds

The fonds consists of records of Fran's service in WWII including 2 ration books, a public school leaving diplomain 1936 and high school examination results for 1939-1940 as well as one for his brother Donald in 1930, a confirmation certificate in 1936, his career with CFGP and the sports world, and personal papers and photographs. Also included are a Grande Prairie trackmeet first place pin and ribbon, a Sutton R.E.A. third prize ribbon, and a photograph of Fran as a young boy soldier mounted and cut from wood.

Croken Family fonds

The records consist of photographs and personal records from Patty and Rudy Croken and Jennie (Tomshak) Croken. They include P.V. Croken financial records from the P.V Croken Store; Patty’s correspondence from 1956-1973; personal income tax returns for Rudy & Jennie Croken from 1953-1958, and for Patty & Daisy Croken from 1958-1966; farm accounts and wheat board certificates; the papers for building Rudy & Jennie’s home in 1954; and two stories about living in Clairmont, and working in the Grande Prairie Post Office, written by Jennie Croken in 2014. The photographs are a wide assortment of subjects from the Peace Celebration in Grande Prairie in 1919, to Jennie on her travels in 1986.

Postman family fonds

The fonds consists of the personal and business (farm) records of three generations and multiple members of the Postman family including those related to taxes, debt, investments and banking, purchases, and general finances, personal and business correspondence, land, livestock, crops, wars and military service, health, automobiles, family life, and religion. The fonds also includes family photographs.

The fonds is divided into six series: Financial Records, Correspondence, Farm Records, Personal Records, Clippings, and Photographs.

The records were originally housed in a series of scrapbooks, with some loose records and photographs accompanying them. In the absence of a discernible original order, the records were organized by topic, then chronologically by the Archivist. Lunde family records (see fonds 517) were removed prior to arrangement.
