Jessie & Robert Holmes fonds

The fonds consists of a copy of Robert Holmes’ memoirs concerning the trip made from Liverpool to the mission on the shores of Lesser Slave Lake in 1902; a copy of Jessie Holmes’ memoirs of the same trip, of their work and experiences at Slave Lake, Shaftesbury Trail, and Lake Saskatoon; 8 letters written by Jessie, Robert, Lizzie and George, dated 1902 to 1912; and 38 photographs of the family and scenes at their homes and missions.

The fonds consists of planning material, correspondence, permission forms, handouts from the events, 1 news paper article, 3 audio cassettes and 2 – 8 mm video tape cassettes from the 2004 gathering. Participants whose stories were recorded were Shirley Plante, Valleyview; Kathleen Evans, Fairview; Henry McAllister, Hines Creek; Michael David, Valleyview; Donna Cummings, Fairview; and Frederick (Dave) Cummings, Fairview. Also included are the planning notes, correspondence, contacts lists for 2004 and 2005.

Bezanson Family fonds

The fonds consists of a collection of photographs donated by the Bezanson family when the Bezanson Towsite became an historical site ca. 1986; and a collection found in a Seattle rooming house in the 1970s. There is some duplication in the collection. They include photographs of Bezanson’s first trip into the Peace Country in 1906, their homestead on the Smoky River from 1908-1913, his 1913 trip over the Edson Trail in a 1912 Cadillac with an Edmonton Realtor named Davidson, the creation of the hamlet of Bezanson at the junction of the Smoky and Simonette Rivers, and a collection of Peace Country scenes dating from 1910 to 1930.

Harry Tuffill fonds

The fonds consists of photographs, postcards, and a publication from United Grain Growers. Of the 327 photographs, 110 portray surveying in the Peace Country from 1909 to 1911, 5 picture life on the Tuffill homestead, and the remaining 212 are of Mr. Tuffill’s service in WWI and family and photographs from England. There are also 72 postcards from Canada and abroad.

The fonds consists of two fur-trade ledgers which detail transactions between the Hudson’s Bay Company at Dunvegan and individuals trading with this post. The first ledger (8 ½ x 13” and 160 pages) dates between 1834 and 1840, and the second ledger (9 ½ x 14” and 160 pages) is from 1861-1863 and contains many First Nations hunters, some identified by aboriginal names and some by the more common French names.

Bert and Miriam Tieman fonds

The fonds consists of some personal papers of Bert and Miriam Tieman; a folder of unframed pencil sketches and paintings; a large photograph and postcard collection, including personal photographs of the Tiemans and their homes; films of their life and activities; and documents relating to their hobbies and their volunteer work with the South Peace Operatic Society, the Grande Prairie & District Association of the Mentally Handicapped, the Town of Grande Prairie when Bert was Alderman, and the Grande Prairie Museum. Also included is a handwritten "Handbook for Wireless Telegraph Operators" c. 1920. An accrual includes birth certificates for Bert and Miriam, a marriage certificate and records of Bert's including a typing certificate (1914), a military draft certificate (1917), a Lay Minister's License (1981), City of Grande Prairie Alderman card, a news clippping showing Bert donating his personal art collection to the Prairie Art Gallery, a thank you letter for service on the Grande Prairie Health Unit Board, a page of Bert Tieman Woodworking letterhead and a memorial card.

The fonds consists of family genealogical records, documents, diaries, correspondence and photographs from the Campbell, McGuire and Brewer families; documents and photographs to the Campbell homestead at Halcourt; a collection of artwork, including a set of hand-made Christmas Cards drawn by Myrle and Isabel in the late 1920s; personal and business correspondence; historical writings by Isabel Campbell; records from Miss Campbell’s home in Grande Prairie; a reference collection of photographs, maps, and clippings files relating to Peace Country history; a set of glass negatives created in 1936-37 by Cameron White of the White Studio; and memorial records from Isabel’s funeral.
