The fonds consists of photographs with the following subject headings: Mrs. Alchorn, Clifford Bell, Herman Bieber, Hans Birkigt, Rita Birkigt, Walter Bruchhausen, Ernst Feuereisen, furs, Joe Gill, Earl Kay, Charlie Linders, Fred Meyer, Kurt George (Dick) Naumann (1901-1978), Old Trading Post store, trucking, and Paul Wickers. Rita Birkigt lists the names of other trappers, and mink and fox ranchers, in a seven page article. Other material includes correspondence with Monica Cardinal, Clifford House, May McIntosh, and C.B.Olson; tax receipts and fur licenses, and an article about Rita published in the Jan.1, 1987 edition of Western People, a supplement to The Western Producer. There is a financial statement for the Athabasca Curling Club for the year ending April, 1970. Rita also handled funeral expenses and dispersement of property for Ernst Feuereisen, Abraham Funk and Adeline Logan. The artifact is a snuff can opener.

Athabasca Pottery Discovery Day collection

The fonds consists of newspaper articles, magazine articles, e-mails between Conrad Biernacki and Marilyn Mol, financial information, a press release, bookmarks, the event program which contains historic information, and thank-you letters. The magazine articles, written by Conrad Biernacki, are in the May/June and July/August 2009 editions of Discovering Antiques edited by Jan Mather. The posters were designed by Jen Luckay, an employee of Athabasca University. The artifacts include bricks and brick pieces and a shard from a turned pot from Claude Thillett's Brickyards (1912-c1919). The potter was probably Ewald Walden.

Pottery Discovery Day was special event was held June 21, 2009 in Athabasca and celebrated the use of Athabasca's clay, in both pottery and brick form, from 1909 to the present. Athabasca Clay Products (ACP) 1964-1968, founded by Ed Polanski, was emphasized. Guest speakers included organizer Conrad Biernacki, Royal Ontario Museum; Cathy Roy, Royal Alberta Museum; Carrie-Ann Lunde, Alberta Museums Association; Marilyn Mol, Athabasca Archives; collectors Gene and Gail Sabo; founding potter of ACP Alfred Messerli of Switzerland; former employees Ed Pohranychny, Terry (Knittle) Rains, and Dorothy Nielsen; and Athabasca Pottery Club member, Rosie Guay.

The fonds consists of Vol.2, No.1, March 1966: Alberta Folklore and Local History Collection; A Project Study of Athabasca and District for a Planned Heavy Water Plant, 1966; Grade 3-6 teaching guides for Our Place in the Province; and library book #176 which is a 1970 U of A MA thesis: The Process of Rural Settlement in the Athabasca Area, Alberta by Donald Norman George Stone. The CD was recorded in 1979 by the band "The Gemtones," which included Nadine Kiselyk, Art Thomson, Frank Bubel, Duane Workman, and Moe Breckenridge.

Demchuk and Evasiuk family fonds

The fonds consists of Alberta provincial business licenses dated 1941-1979 (not complete); Town of Athabasca business licenses dated 1978-2007; bicycle sales records for 1956-1958, 1963-1976; and account books for July, 1937 to December, 2002. The photographs include Nick and Nettie's wedding, their children Gail and David, their house, Lena Demchuk's 102 birthday party in 1996, and Elizabeth Sieminski (Demchuk). The artifacts are a small red plastic piggy bank labelled "Mike's Store", two oil paintings by Nick and Nettie Evasiuk, a pair of Sealtred plastic overshoes in their box, a pair of Trramps black leather laced boots in their box, a men's Monarch Knit hose box, and a tube of Ampollina Dye. There is also a book entitled "Athabasca and the world, environmental verses" by Nick Evasiuk, 1989 and a photograph of Nick and his friend, George Ryga, taken in Mexico in 1980.
17.01 Ludie Lewis donated a commemorative "Mike's Store" photo album created for Dave Evasiuk on his 57th birthday just two days before he passed away.
