Charlie Gathercole Map Collection

The fonds consists of 30 survey blueprints and town plans of Benville, Sexsmith, Laglace, Valhalla, and Buffalo Lakes; one 1928 Department of the Interior and four 1917-1922 Surveyor General maps of the Peace River District; one Prairie Farm Assistance Act map from 1955; and three blueprints of houses from the 1950s, one of them produced by the Veterans Land Act department. Maps are stamped with C.R. Gathercole, Real Estate & Insurance, Sexsmith, Alberta. Also included are copies of information from a underwriter's manual cover

Howard McPherson collection

South Wapiti collection

The collection consists of 15 photographs of the farmers and settlers who lived in or frequented the South Wapiti area, including Olaf Berg, the Ted Day family, Osbornes, McCulloughs and Ryans.There is also a photo of "The Bee Man" from the Beaverlodge Research Station giving a demonstration on bee keeping for the South Wapiti Community.

South Peace Regional Archives Film collection

The collection consists of amateur and professional film and video recordings relating to the history of the South Peace River Country of Alberta. These films and videos were donated by various donors to South Peace Regional Archives after it was established in 2000, and are not associated with a fonds. Recordings range in date from 1937-2006 and cover a range of subjects.

J.B. Oliver Funeral Home collection

The fonds consists of eleven maps related to the settlement of the area, dating from 1908-1981; ten plans for cemeteries in the County of Grande Prairie; two architectural plans for an expansion of the funeral home on 102 Street; and correspondence and plans for the creation of Wapiti Park ca. 1938.

Spirit River Settlement Historical Society fonds

The fonds consists of records of the Spirit River Settlement Historical Society including executive records and records of their History Book Committee which consist of planning documents, financial records, minutes and correspondence, and original and/or edited copies of submissions to the Spirit River history book Chepi Sepe. The first sections of the Book Committee records include a history of the general region and the Spirit River Settlement area, the coming of settlers and the growth of agriculture, businesses, industries, municipal governments, the history of veterans of WWI and WWII, schools, churches, medical facilities, and cultural and recreational groups. The second main body of the records contains original and/or edited copies of over 630 family histories arranged in alphabetical order by surname.

Kinderwater Family fonds

The fonds consists of 10 photographs of the Kinderwater Family. They include the Adolph & Anna Kinderwater family in Wisconsin, Frank and Pauline Kinderwater and their family in Buffalo Lakes, and son Paul and wife Agnes in Grande Prairie. There is also a photo of the children at Royal Banner School in 1940.

Pierre Lozeron family fonds

The fonds consists of Lozeron family photographs; personal papers and correspondence of each member of the immediate family -- Pierre, Dora Koberg Lozeron, Paul, Homer and Andre; farm documents from as early as 1915; farm account books from the 1930s to the 1960s; farming information from the 1950s and 1960s files according to the UGG filing system; and correspondence from their extended family members in Switzerland, friends and family members in Canada and the United States. The correspondence dates back to 1910, when the Lozeron boys first left Switzerland.

Rudiger Schmidt Collection

Dr. Lloyd Austin ran a religious commune on his homestead on the NE6-71-5-W6, southeast of the City of Grande Prairie. This land was homesteaded by Dr. Lloyd Austin ca. 1930 and turned over to Billy Blair after the Austins left the area.

William “Billy” Blair was born in 1886. He worked as a camp cook for Henry Selby, who surveyed land east of the fifth meridian, in 1905.

William Blair died in 1995 and is buried in the Grande Prairie Cemetery.

The material in this collection contains records related to Dr. Lloyd Austin’s religious commune.

The record consists of 15 photographs of the dilapidated buildings of a religious commune located on the NE 6-71-5-W6, on the banks of Bear Creek south-east of the City and one 40-minute oral history.
