William J. Preston fonds

The fonds consists of 187 b&w negatives copied from an album of photographs taken and collected by William Preston in the Yukon. The photographs depict scenes at White Pass Station, Cowley and Whitehorse, Yukon. There are several excellent views of work crews digging and using snow plows to free the trains from snow drifts; snow sheds, flooding on the railway track, and pictures of the Whitehorse Roundhouse fire. There are views of the Bechtel Price Callahan Camp, of the various army companies and detachments, and photographs of typed condition reports that were issued for the White Pass and Yukon Route (WP&YR) line. Also included are street scenes of Whitehorse and pictures of various Whitehorse buildings; views of British Yukon Navigation Co. (BYNCo.) steamers (on the river and in dry dock), the BYNCo. warehouse, a series of pictures of a plane wreck of a plane at Carcross, and a series of northern lights photographs.

The collection consists of photographs of Gilcher's tin shop in Dawson City, Yukon and of the men in the Dawson Sheet Metal Workers Union Hall, as well as a dance program to the Dawson Fire Department's first annual ball April 20, 1900.

The fonds consists of photocopies of William Ballou's correspondence from 1889-1918. There are letters written to his mother and other relatives, as well as some maps and newspaper clippings. Most of the letters are written from the Rampart, Alaska area.

The fonds consists of 181 digital photographs scanned from slides and prints loaned to the Yukon Archives by William Braga. The images include many scenes of Dawson City, Yukon - buildings, scenic views, people, the building of the dike in 1987, and a visit by Prince Philip in 1959. Also included are photographs of the Arlington Roadhouse, Johnsons Crossing, a dredge at Sixty Mile, Whitehorse, Miles Canyon, and work camps on the Canol Road. Some people are identified including the students of the Dawson City high school class of 1942.

William F. Manson fonds

The fonds consists of William Francis Manson's account discussing the town of Quesnel, B.C. circa 1900 and the effectiveness of law enforcement in the region. Manson writes about the numerous gold seekers he met on their way to the Klondike Gold Fields in the Yukon around 1898 and their ill-preparedness for the journey. He found that they were green-horns in their business dealings and in overestimating the speed they could make and the supplies they could reasonably expect to carry.

The fonds consists of ten original photographs of the Canadian Bank of Commerce in Whitehorse, Yukon, line-ups at the bank during the construction of the Alaska Highway, a bank branch in a Quonset hut at Johnson's Crossing, and the bank staff Christmas 1943.

Wilkinson family fonds

The fonds includes photographs, textual records and films primarily generated by the Wilkinson family, however, there are some records from the Porterfield and Thompson families. The textual records include correspondence between members of the Wilkinson family and their friends; journals kept by the Wilkinsons; and poetry, primarily by J.C. Wilkinson. There is also a photocopied map that indicates Jared's trapline along the Pelly River. The photographs, largely taken by Jared and Eddie Wilkinson, depict the Wilkinson's life at Fort Selkirk, Plateau Mountain, Pelly Crossing, and Lansing from 1915 to 1980. They include views of communities, rivers, lakes, trapping, fishing, farming, hunting, wilderness areas, and people throughout the Yukon. The films, taken by Jared and Edwin Wilkinson, document the hunting, fishing, and trapping activities of the Wilkinson family during their years spent at Pelly Crossing, 1954-1958; the Wilkinsons' years at Edgewood, B.C.; and at Pelly Crossing, Lansing, and Whitehorse, 1958-1977.

This fonds consists of copies of photographs which mainly depict Anglican Church activities and clergy throughout the Yukon. Subjects include churches, mission schools, hostels, First Nations people, children, events and activities at Carcross, Dawson City, Mayo, Moosehide, Old Crow and Whitehorse, as well as a number of individuals, many of whom are identified and listed in the inventory.
