The prints were produced from a deck of White Pass and Yukon Route (WP&YR) playing cards. The centre of each card depicts scenes along the WP&YR and the Trail of '98 including the White Pass, White Pass City, Johnson Glacier, Skagway, Alaska, steamboats at Lake Bennett, pack trains on the White Pass Trail, Atlin Lake and Dawson City.

The fonds has been divided into these series: Member of the Legislative Assembly; Yukon and Alaska Visitors Associations; Whitehorse Chamber of Commerce; Yukon Sourdough Rendezvous Committee; Northern Vision Packers Company; Alaska Northwest Publishing Company; Historical Research; and a Business Card collection. Accession 93/94 (3/15/6) is in process and consists of correspondence, notes, publications, brochures, and newspaper clippings related to Yukon elections, Erik Nielsen, government development, mining, celebrations, and other Yukon issues.

The second ledger is accounts payable for 1912-1924. Both ledgers include an alphabetical index. The ledgers include accounts of Whitney and Pedlar branch stores, accounts with various banks and with individuals.

Robert T. Whiting fonds

The fonds consists of photographs of White Pass and Yukon Route (WP&YR) passenger trains, 1898-1899, taken by Barley and Case & Draper. The textual record is a 1983 biography of Frank Whiting, written by his grandson Robert Whiting, detailing in particular his involvement with the WP&YR.

Donald Bates fonds

The fonds consists of one tape recording made when Johnnie Johns set up a tape recorder (supplied by D. H. Bates) at a Whitehorse party in the early 1940s, and an unpublished manuscript by Donald Bates and Lewis Mills, entitled "One diary of grizzly hunt 'Ursus Horribilus', Yukon Territory - Canada, May 27 to June 10, 1950." The manuscript describes the two men's hunting trip in the Yukon with guide, Johnnie Johns.

Ed Whitehouse fonds

The fonds consists of textual records and photographs accumulated by Ed Whitehouse. Included in the textual records are five school exercise books from Ed's studies at Dawson City Public High School, ca. 1922. The subjects covered are Composition and Literature, Geography, History, Algebra and Composition, and Spelling. There is a Dawson City Cable Ferry log book that Ed kept for his own interest, recording the passenger's names, if known, for each ferry trip. Also included is assorted correspondence, supply lists, certificates of discharge, newspaper clippings and three leather postcards. Photocopies of Samuel J. Whitehouse's military paybooks and discharge certificate (1919) are with Ed Whitehouse's records. The photographs are copies of originals taken or collected by Ed Whitehouse. There are shots of the Whitehouse family, the Yukon Consolidated Gold Corporation (YCGC) operations and workers, Dawson City, Stewart City, the North Fork cable ferry and scenes taken while he was on his 1928-1929 mail run. There are also 14 copy prints taken by Ed Whitehouse in the 1920s with a box camera. The photographs are of Ed and family and friends in the Whitehorse area. The original photograph is a 21x26 cm image of Sam and Mary Irving on horseback.

Whitehorse Star Ltd. fonds

The fonds consists of photographs, textual material, newspapers, a variety of published items and two maps. The photographs in this fonds cover a time period of ca. 1959-1975 and were donated in three accessions. The first accession, 82/527, consists of 8,797 negatives. The second accession, 82/563, consists of 19,620 negatives and 11,044 of black and white prints. The photographs include a wide variety of views of newsworthy events in Whitehorse, and in the Yukon generally. Many of the major news items of this period are represented - such as visits by Pierre Trudeau and Governor-General Michener, the climbing of Mt. Kennedy by American Senator Robert Kennedy, the opening of the Skagway Road and Dempster Highway, the removal of the last shack on Whiskey Flats, and the restoration of the S.S. Klondike. As well, there are also numerous photographs of local events, activities, buildings, sports and people, including Whitehorse and other Yukon residents, personalities and politicians. A third accession, 82/419, consists of two black and white photographs of Patsy Henderson and his wife dressed in First Nations ceremonial costume in front of the White Pass and Yukon Route (WP&YR) railway station at Carcross. The newspapers include 187 bound copies plus loose issues of the Whitehorse Star from 1901 to present. The fonds also contains textual materials comprised of newspaper clippings, typescript and handwritten articles, correspondence and miscellaneous information that originally accompanied some of the photographs. There are two maps. One, copied by Department of Public Works in 1966 from a 1925 map, depicts the receding ice front at Tarr Inlet. The second map is a 1967 topographical survey map of Steele Glacier produced for the Yukon Alpine Centennial Expedition. Accession 2001/01 consists of eleven boxes of research files transferred to the Yukon Archives by Chuck Tobin, Local News reporter for the Whitehorse Star. This accession is unprocessed.
