The collection consists of copies of photographs and textual material from the Atlin Historical Society in Atlin, B.C. The majority of the photographs are of Atlin and the surrounding area. The collection has been arranged in the following five series: Series 1: Atlin photographs, 1900-1960. Series 2: Tugwell and Dunlop photographs, 1898-1937. Series 3: Herman Peterson collection, 1940-1984. Series 4: Obituary Book, 197-. Series 5: Nolan papers, 1951-1956. Series 1 is mostly photographs taken by Atlin residents. Subjects include individuals and families, businesses, Tlingit activities, mines and mining, buildings and scenery at Atlin, as well as photographs of Whitehorse and Dawson City, Yukon, Bennett and Log Cabin, 1900-1960. Series 2 is from albums belonging to Thomas and Lilly Tugwell and Mrs. Dunlop of Atlin. The photographs are the work of a number of professional and amateur photographers and include communities and events, buildings, portraits, interiors, and various subjects associated with the Gold Rush, 1898-1937. Series 3 is the Herman Peterson Collection of photographs. Peterson was a pilot and owner of a flying service in Atlin. The series consists of photographs of airplanes and views in Atlin and Carcross, 1940-1984. Series 4 is an Obituary Book compiled by the Atlin Historical Society. Series 5 is a collection of pieces of correspondence probably from the John Nolan papers.
