The fonds consists of a letterbook kept by Lin Shih Yuan while undertaking consular work in Vancouver. The letters in it date from November 8, 1914 through May 29, 1915 and are in both Chinese and English. They deal with a wide variety of matters, including the head tax on Chinese immigrants, deportations of Chinese, estates of dead Chinese, protests about employment restrictions on Chinese, and arms shipments to China. There is an index at the front of the volume.
