Marilyn Anne Mol fonds

The fonds consists of photographs of town buildings taken in 1995 and used in the first two Athabasca Walking Tour booklets; and the unveiling of the 40th anniversary plaque for the Pottery Club on the Brick School in 2002. The 1911 photograph of Strathcona Street was purchased by Miriam Mol from e-bay in 2005. There are programs for Athabasca Players productions (Old Boots, The Day Jake Made Her Rain), Athabasca Dance Society (The Olde Toy Shoppe), 1994 Rural Roots sale of works by artists and artisans, and the 1994 (17th) Annual Convocation at Athabasca University. A photo was taken in June, 2006 of five students who attended Toles School in Amber Valley. Eight photographs dated August 29, 2006 show the demolition of the James Taylor house, built in 1918. 36 photographs were taken of the town buildings and views in the Fall of 2008. 60 photographs taken in 2009 include subjects: Conrad Biernacki digging clay in the Tawatinaw River valley, pieces from the Athabasca Clay Products collection at the Athabasca Archives, hanging flower baskets and floral displays in downtown Athabasca, the George Spence Sr. brick house and Amber Valley's 100th anniversary. Photographs from 2010 and 2011 include: signage change on the Alberta Provincial Building, demolition of the Athabasca Medical Centre, June 2011 flood of the Athabasca River, and Athabasca's 100th Anniversary Homecoming on July 29-31, 2011 which include Paula Evans, Donald Gambler, Bill Joseph Cardinal and Alfred Beaver. There are photos of the Sept.2011 100th anniversary of hospitals in Athabasca (Lyle Lewis, Joy MacComb and Dr.Roger Morrill), the highway 55/813 interchange, and the 2011 Christmas Craft Show (Marilyn Mol, Bob Tannas). The artifacts are 20 glass telephone insulators collected and purchased over time. There are photos taken in 2015 of town buildings, floral displays, 2015 parade, Louis Barons model buildings, Athabasca United Churchs new cement steps and ramp, Robert Garton, derelict church-St.Andrew`s, Colinton; Colinton cemetery, and the Gaar Scott engine decorated for Christmas. An artifact is a pop bottle from Calgary Brewing & Malting Co. Ltd. who owned the Grand Union Hotel c 1949--- which was purchased in an antique store in Boyle. Photos in 2016 included Dennis Jacob's murals on riverfront bathrooms, St. Andrew's Church, Colinton; Louis Fosseneuve grave, Claudia Theroux, Red River cart, former town office jail cells, riverfront skateboard park, playground and water park; west sidewalk repairs in front of Grand Union Hotel, St. Gabriel's Roman Catholic Church new exterior, and a few town buildings.

Demchuk and Evasiuk family fonds

The fonds consists of Alberta provincial business licenses dated 1941-1979 (not complete); Town of Athabasca business licenses dated 1978-2007; bicycle sales records for 1956-1958, 1963-1976; and account books for July, 1937 to December, 2002. The photographs include Nick and Nettie's wedding, their children Gail and David, their house, Lena Demchuk's 102 birthday party in 1996, and Elizabeth Sieminski (Demchuk). The artifacts are a small red plastic piggy bank labelled "Mike's Store", two oil paintings by Nick and Nettie Evasiuk, a pair of Sealtred plastic overshoes in their box, a pair of Trramps black leather laced boots in their box, a men's Monarch Knit hose box, and a tube of Ampollina Dye. There is also a book entitled "Athabasca and the world, environmental verses" by Nick Evasiuk, 1989 and a photograph of Nick and his friend, George Ryga, taken in Mexico in 1980.
17.01 Ludie Lewis donated a commemorative "Mike's Store" photo album created for Dave Evasiuk on his 57th birthday just two days before he passed away.

Four interviews were conducted in 1977 as part of a social studies project. Nine interviews were conducted in April,1992 by an English 20 class. Thirteen people were interviewed by eleven students regarding their arrival in Athabasca, their careers, their values and retirement. Interviewees include: Todd Richards, Hugo Carlson, Jettie Willey (Day), James (Jim) Appleby, Mary Donald (Miller), John Guay, Stefani Baldwin (Staszewski), Ted Matijohn, Annette Weinrich, Pearl Matijohn (Solomon), Anna Eherer (Kroneder), Nellie Onyschuk (Dac), and William Doerkson.

The fonds consists of photographs of Helene Lagasse and two of her sisters, Annie Vance attending Athabasca Public School [1912], Annie and Ernest Bulman-Fleming, Annie and her children, and Louis Menard and Helene. The genealogy of the Lagasse, Vance and Bulman-Fleming families is incuded as well as Ernest Bulman-Flemings's service records as part of the Canadian Expeditionary Force in WWI. The recording includes Gordon and Alan Vance reminiscing with Frank Falconer and Barbara Ashacker in 1983 about Athabasca, teachers, school friends, etc.

Photographs of tracking on the Athabasca River, First Nations life, and the Klondike Gold Rush. Artifacts #155, 156 are a pair of buffalo winter driving gloves and a set of brass harness bells. Artifact #51 is a spear tip made of tuffaceous clinker, a mineral found only in the Norman Wells area of the NWT.
