Marilyn Anne Mol fonds

The fonds consists of photographs of town buildings taken in 1995 and used in the first two Athabasca Walking Tour booklets; and the unveiling of the 40th anniversary plaque for the Pottery Club on the Brick School in 2002. The 1911 photograph of Strathcona Street was purchased by Miriam Mol from e-bay in 2005. There are programs for Athabasca Players productions (Old Boots, The Day Jake Made Her Rain), Athabasca Dance Society (The Olde Toy Shoppe), 1994 Rural Roots sale of works by artists and artisans, and the 1994 (17th) Annual Convocation at Athabasca University. A photo was taken in June, 2006 of five students who attended Toles School in Amber Valley. Eight photographs dated August 29, 2006 show the demolition of the James Taylor house, built in 1918. 36 photographs were taken of the town buildings and views in the Fall of 2008. 60 photographs taken in 2009 include subjects: Conrad Biernacki digging clay in the Tawatinaw River valley, pieces from the Athabasca Clay Products collection at the Athabasca Archives, hanging flower baskets and floral displays in downtown Athabasca, the George Spence Sr. brick house and Amber Valley's 100th anniversary. Photographs from 2010 and 2011 include: signage change on the Alberta Provincial Building, demolition of the Athabasca Medical Centre, June 2011 flood of the Athabasca River, and Athabasca's 100th Anniversary Homecoming on July 29-31, 2011 which include Paula Evans, Donald Gambler, Bill Joseph Cardinal and Alfred Beaver. There are photos of the Sept.2011 100th anniversary of hospitals in Athabasca (Lyle Lewis, Joy MacComb and Dr.Roger Morrill), the highway 55/813 interchange, and the 2011 Christmas Craft Show (Marilyn Mol, Bob Tannas). The artifacts are 20 glass telephone insulators collected and purchased over time. There are photos taken in 2015 of town buildings, floral displays, 2015 parade, Louis Barons model buildings, Athabasca United Churchs new cement steps and ramp, Robert Garton, derelict church-St.Andrew`s, Colinton; Colinton cemetery, and the Gaar Scott engine decorated for Christmas. An artifact is a pop bottle from Calgary Brewing & Malting Co. Ltd. who owned the Grand Union Hotel c 1949--- which was purchased in an antique store in Boyle. Photos in 2016 included Dennis Jacob's murals on riverfront bathrooms, St. Andrew's Church, Colinton; Louis Fosseneuve grave, Claudia Theroux, Red River cart, former town office jail cells, riverfront skateboard park, playground and water park; west sidewalk repairs in front of Grand Union Hotel, St. Gabriel's Roman Catholic Church new exterior, and a few town buildings.

Evelyn Rita Rogers fonds

The fonds consists of materials created by Evelyn Rogers between 1940 and 1980. The fonds consists of Evelyn Rogers' membership certificates for various organizations and photographs of Athabasca and various events including: a tug-of-war at the Athabasca Fair in 1916; the executive of The Northern Alberta Baseball League - Jack Mackie, Jeff Edwards and Byron Bellamy; Fairhaven baseball team in 1946; Amber Valley baseball team in 1946; crowd in Athabasca Community Centre in [1955]; and 6 photos of the opening of the Athabasca Bridge in 1952 which include Byron Bellamy, Nick Doroshenko, Hon. Gordon Taylor, and Jean Baptiste Gambler. These 6 photographs were taken by Bob Preece's Photo Shop. The artifacts include: Hugo Carlson's pocket watch, Byron W. Bellamy's tie clip, a radio, a hat pin, and printing plates for the Athabasca Public Library. Two panoramic photographs are included in this fonds. One is of the United Farmers of Alberta at the 14th annual convention in Calgary, Jan.17, 1922. It measures 20x140cm. The other is a view of Strathcona Street, Athabasca, [1913] facing north. It was photographed by Voldeng and Bolton of 255 Jasper East, Edmonton and measures 21x169 cm.

Arthur Haskell Thomson fonds

The fonds consists of Vol.2, No.1, March 1966: Alberta Folklore and Local History Collection; A Project Study of Athabasca and District for a Planned Heavy Water Plant, 1966; Grade 3-6 teaching guides for Our Place in the Province; and library book #176 which is a 1970 U of A MA thesis: The Process of Rural Settlement in the Athabasca Area, Alberta by Donald Norman George Stone. The CD was recorded in 1979 by the band "The Gemtones," which included Nadine Kiselyk, Art Thomson, Frank Bubel, Duane Workman, and Moe Breckenridge.

Brian Loxam and Robert Lines fonds

The four people interviewed were Jettie O. (Day) Willey (1887-1978), Rosanna (Goulet) Shank (1892-1981, Hugo Carlson (1890-1977) and Rev. Bruce Rathbone. The first three interviewees discussed teaching, power companies, MacLeod's Creamery, the 1913 fire, Isaie Gagnon, Smith and Wood sawmill, commercial fishing, raising foxes, livery stables and theatres.
Rev. Rathbone, rector of All Saints Anglican Church, discussed the history of the Anglican Church in Athabasca, the first printing press, the diocese bishops, the satellite churches in the area, the St. Mary's Hostel for Girls and the Bishop Young Memorial Boy's Hostel.

Demchuk and Evasiuk family fonds

The fonds consists of Alberta provincial business licenses dated 1941-1979 (not complete); Town of Athabasca business licenses dated 1978-2007; bicycle sales records for 1956-1958, 1963-1976; and account books for July, 1937 to December, 2002. The photographs include Nick and Nettie's wedding, their children Gail and David, their house, Lena Demchuk's 102 birthday party in 1996, and Elizabeth Sieminski (Demchuk). The artifacts are a small red plastic piggy bank labelled "Mike's Store", two oil paintings by Nick and Nettie Evasiuk, a pair of Sealtred plastic overshoes in their box, a pair of Trramps black leather laced boots in their box, a men's Monarch Knit hose box, and a tube of Ampollina Dye. There is also a book entitled "Athabasca and the world, environmental verses" by Nick Evasiuk, 1989 and a photograph of Nick and his friend, George Ryga, taken in Mexico in 1980.
17.01 Ludie Lewis donated a commemorative "Mike's Store" photo album created for Dave Evasiuk on his 57th birthday just two days before he passed away.

The fonds consists of 28 photographs collected by Don Stephenson of a [1927] Edmonton-Athabasca-Peace River Highway motor tour; pictures of Athabasca buildings; and the 1944 flood. The Athabasca buildings include: All Saints Anglican Church, Imperial Bank of Canada, Grand Union Hotel, Municipal Hospital, Public School, and views of Skinner Street and Wood Avenue, Baptiste Lake, ferry, cable cage and grain elevators.

Athabasca Echo fonds

The fonds consists of materials created by the Athabasca Echo newspaper between 1949 and 1957. The fonds consists of Christmas cards, cancelled cheques, cash receipt book, tax record book,employee time sheets, and petty cash book of the Athabasca Echo. The fonds also consists of 1101 photographs created between 1952 and 1972. There is a framed pen and ink sketch of each editor.

Athabasca Jubilee Celebration Committee fonds

The fonds consists of minutes and correspondence of the Jubilee Celebration Committee from 1960 to 1961; newspaper articles; a special 1 issue newspaper entitled "The Landing Trail Post"; a programme and audiotape reels (duplicated on two DVDs) of the play "The Athabasca Story" written by John Havard and produced Sept.4, 1961. The 16 mm film "Land of Athabasca" was part of the play. Two audiotape reels are excerpts from the sound track of the play and were broadcast on CKUA radio Aug.27, 1961. The film is credited to Havard-Bolch Productions and includes moving pictures of the Athabasca River, bridge and town from the air; street scenes, creamery, school bus; a pottery display with the sign "Brick and Tile by Northwest Ceramics Ltd. Edmonton, AB" made from Athabasca clay; Imperial Lumber building, planing mill and sawdust burner as well as loading lumber into a boxcar; the cenotaph, train station and water skiing at Baptiste Lake. A 1996 letter from Mrs. John Havard re: copying film.
