The fonds largely consists of the records of the Calgary Civil Liberties Association, the predecessor organization of the Alberta Civil Liberties Research Centre and the Alberta Civil Liberties Association. It includes minutes of board meetings and annual general meetings; general correspondence; research and position papers; files pertaining to the organization of two conferences dealing with the Charter of Rights, including minutes of organizing committees, budgets, applications for funding and final reports; and a series of case files for issues with which the CCLA was involved.

Arranged in four series: 1) Executive members' general files 1985-1991; 2) Newsletter, The Barrister, 1986-1995; 3) Membership directories, 1987-1992; 4) Workshop reading material, 1988-1992. The records reflect the organization's educational, networking and communiciation activities, as well as its concern with major issues facing lawyers whose adversaries in court were most often large insurance corporations.

Fonds consists of records maintained by individual executive and committee members in the course of conducting the business of the ACAA from their own places of employment. Fonds is arranged in 3 series: 1) Executive and members' manuals, minutes and incorporation documents, 2) Briefs, reports and collected reference material, and 3) Executive members' and committee chair's records. Executive members and committee chairs whose records are included here are Willard Willms, Cliff Purvis, I. Yaverbaun, E.O. (Orest) Yereniuk, Martin Elton, Gordon Falconer and Grant Nickless. Activities reflected in the records include liaison with the attorney general regarding working conditions and remuneration for crown attorneys, organization of conferences, monitoring public perceptions of crown attorneys, and other matters. Includes executive manuals, correspondence, minutes of executive meetings and annual general meetings, some committee meetings, and reports produced by the ACAA. Records of most committees established by the association are not included in this fonds, the exception being the Ways and Means Committee. The newsletter which the association distributed is also not included among the records. Fonds also includes a 1967 photograph of the inaugural meeting of crown prosecutors, prior to the establishment of the ACAA, and a photo of the hockey team. The records never formed part of a single record-keeping system.

Fonds consists of material relating to the career of the late Alexander Andrekson. Includes Law Society Heritage Committee files; draft historical articles submitted by Edmonton lawyer F. J. Newson to the committee relating to the development of the legal profession in Alberta; various pamphlets and tariff of fees schedules; other miscellaneous historical and biographical memorabilia; congratulatory letters and other documents regarding Andrekson's judicial appointment; photographs; certificates; a scrapbook; a print of the Edmonton Law Courts; and a ceramic plaque presented to Andrekson by the Law Society of Alberta.

Alexander McGillivray fonds

Fonds consists of four judge's notebooks. Two are notebooks of Alexander McGillivray 1931-39 taken during sittings of the Appellate Division in Calgary and Edmonton, and two are of an unidentified judge taken circa 1939-1940. These anonymous notebooks may relate to the Royal Commission into the Alberta Oil Industry in 1939/40 in which McGillivray was involved.

Allan B. Armstrong fonds

Consists of appellant and respondent factum's collected by former Red Deer lawyer Allan B. Armstrong. The files represent thirteen (13) cases heard before the Supreme Court of Alberta, Appellate Division. Also included is the factum of a fictitious respondent from a Moot Court hearing held at the University of Alberta, Edmonton (1959). Many of the cases are noteworthy and include involvement with several prominent early Alberta lawyers and Justices. The cases relate to a variety of topics ranging from paternity, an early Alberta land deal involving the leader of the Provincial Conservative party, and Red Deer's Arlington Hotel to name a few. Most of the trials occurred in Red Deer, but cases heard in Calgary, Wetaskiwin and Edmonton are also present.

Judge's clothing collected by Mr. Wachowich formerly belonged to Sidney Bruce Smith, David Cargill McDonald, John McIntosh Hope, Nina Leone Foster, Alexander Andrekson, Frederick Richards McNaughton, H. C. B. Maddison, Vernor Winfield MacBriare "Mac" Smith, Michael O'Byrne, and James L. Lewis.
