A Christening

Present at the christening of an Indigenous child are Robert Holmes, Archdeacon Robins, Bishop George Holmes and Canon Smith. Jessie Holmes, the child, and a relative are in the front row. The picture is taken beside a Hudson Bay boat.

Albert (Alibe) Grostete

Image shows Albert Grostete posing in a studio. He is wearing a fur coat and holding snowshoes and a bow and arrow. It was taken while Anna B. Marsh was at St Peter's Mission, Hay River, Great Slave Lake in May 1903. Albert is 12 years old and was employed by Mr. Bredin. This photograph was in a frame with two others, 2005.011.01 and 2005.011.02. The back of the frame said "Mrs. Anna Bredin - Twin Shacks, Bear Lake, Alberta, 1911, 2 Cree Indian Boys - For Grande Prairie Museum".

Anna Marsh (Bredin)

Image is a studio portrait of Anna B. Marsh. It was taken while Anna was at St Peter's Mission, Hay River, Great Slave Lake in May 1903. She is wearing a fur coat, beaded gloves, and is holding snowshoes. This photograph was in a frame with two others, 2005.011.01 and 2005.011.03. The back of the frame said "Mrs. Anna Bredin - Twin Shacks, Bear Lake, Alberta, 1911, 2 Cree Indian Boys - For Grande Prairie Museum".

Camp at Beaverlodge River

Image shows an Indigenous peoples camp on the Beaverlodge River. Three men and a child are standing in front of three tipis. The ground is partially covered in snow. The original description said Indian camp instead of Indigenous peoples camp. The title is taken from the back of the photograph.

Christ Church Mission

A wintery walk on the road past Christ Church Mission at Shaftsbury near Peace River. Back of picture reads: Old Nookom would walk every Sunday to Church 5 miles. Many years ago when going to church she was met by a bear. Nookom climbed up a tree and the bear climbed up after her as far as he could and chewed her heel off. I have seen her foot. Ever after she always carried a knife in her belt.

A photograph from a trip to Nose Mountain. Ann Roberts writes on the back: "Two Cree families accompanied us on our trip. They killed out meat--moose, deer, bear, porcupine and skunk--and picked cranberries and blueberries for us. They pitched our tents and packed our horses. Last, but not least they were our guides."
