Beaverlodge Advertiser fonds

Bert and Miriam Tieman fonds

The fonds consists of some personal papers of Bert and Miriam Tieman; a folder of unframed pencil sketches and paintings; a large photograph and postcard collection, including personal photographs of the Tiemans and their homes; films of their life and activities; and documents relating to their hobbies and their volunteer work with the South Peace Operatic Society, the Grande Prairie & District Association of the Mentally Handicapped, the Town of Grande Prairie when Bert was Alderman, and the Grande Prairie Museum. Also included is a handwritten "Handbook for Wireless Telegraph Operators" c. 1920. An accrual includes birth certificates for Bert and Miriam, a marriage certificate and records of Bert's including a typing certificate (1914), a military draft certificate (1917), a Lay Minister's License (1981), City of Grande Prairie Alderman card, a news clippping showing Bert donating his personal art collection to the Prairie Art Gallery, a thank you letter for service on the Grande Prairie Health Unit Board, a page of Bert Tieman Woodworking letterhead and a memorial card.

Bob Field fonds

The fonds consists of records relating to Bob Field's life and activities, primarily as an amateur radio operator. The records include licenses and certificates, incoming and outgoing correspondence and QSL cards, log books, information about local amateur radio, and a publication about Bob's experiences in radio.

The fonds currently has only one series: Amateur Radio.

The fonds consists of logos, posters, summaries and scrapbooks which detail the history of CFGP; photographs, blueprints and correspondence regarding the physical plant which housed the radio station; correspondence regarding the broadcasting market, starting with telegrams from all over the area regarding quality of transmission on first day of operations in 1937; Market statistics, reports and administrative correspondence; photographs of personnel; announcer and advertisement scripts; program schedules from the initial broadcasts to 1950; photographs of activities generated through sales and promotions; publications for promotions and celebrations; photographs and material regarding the Royal Visit in 1987, and a file of news clippings.

The fonds consists of records of Fran's service in WWII including 2 ration books, a public school leaving diplomain 1936 and high school examination results for 1939-1940 as well as one for his brother Donald in 1930, a confirmation certificate in 1936, his career with CFGP and the sports world, and personal papers and photographs. Also included are a Grande Prairie trackmeet first place pin and ribbon, a Sutton R.E.A. third prize ribbon, and a photograph of Fran as a young boy soldier mounted and cut from wood.
