The fonds consists of materials created by the Athabasca and District Civil Defence Unit between 1957 and 1973. The fonds consists of minutes of meetings of Athabasca and District Civil Defense Unit, financial statements, correspondence, notes, brochures and general information about civil defense programs. The photograph is of a provincial Civil Defence meeting. Athabasca's representatives are Steve Berezan and Harry Bayliss.

The fonds consists of materials created by the Athabasca and District Music Festival between 1974 and 2012. The fonds consists of annual programs and handbills for the final concerts; also included are the 1974, 1975, 1978, 1981, 1986-1990, 1993 annual financial statements. 20th and 35th Gala Concerts showcased former performers who have made a career in the arts. There are also several programs of the Alberta Music Festival Association annual Provincial Festivals and an "Anthology of Poetry", a collection of poems by local writers, sponsored by the Music Festival Association to celebrate Athabasca's 75th anniversary in 1986. 99.45: Creative Music: Original compositions by students of Lynne Hartley written for the creative music category of the Athabasca Music Festival 1996 - 98.

The collection consists of nine books in the Athabasca Archives reference library that contain information on Black settlement, Amber Valley, and families who settled there. The collection includes a video tape: "We Remember Amber Valley," by Selwyn Jacobs

To date, 450 unique items specific to the local area, and spanning over a century, have been donated.

The fonds consists of photographs of the Athabasca Figure Skating Club's annual Krystal Karnival for 1973, 1975-1980,and 1982. The collection also includes photographs of hockey teams, individual players and award presentations for 1926, 1936-1938, 1948, 1961-1983 and 1985-1986.

The collection includes cassette tape recordings of area residents' reminiscences, VHS tape recordings of street scenes, plays and other occasions, two record albums of music, and digital files of area events from 1961 to the present.

The collection consists of newspaper clippings, lists of accounts, letterbooks, personal papers, correspondence, inspection reports, transportation modes and costs, inventories pertaining to the Hudson's Bay Company and its presence in Alberta and Athabasca, where it established a post from 1877-1924. Included are articles from the Beaver magazine: "Skippering a scow" on the Athabasca by N.A.Howland; "The Last of the Brigades" by Guy Blanchet; and "Inland Journey" by J.W.Chalmers (Treaty 8).
