The item consists of a photograph of an intersection at 17th Avenue SE;There is a negative available for this photograph, Bay 197, Shelf 05, Box 1 (CalA PN-00469);This 1955 photograph shows the intersection of Cushing Cutoff and 17th Avenue SE. Traffic signs at the far right of the photograph indicate Alberta Highway 2 North (the road moving toward the horizon) and Highway 1A East (the road moving across the photograph on the right-hand side of the photo);Today the segment of Highway 2 passing through Calgary is known as Deerfoot Trail and it intersects with 17th Avenue SE just east of the Cushing Bridge. 17th Avenue SE, the original alignment of Highway 1, was designated Highway 1A in 1949 when Highway 1 was rerouted to follow 16th Avenue North

This 1955 photograph shows the intersection of Cushing Cutoff and 17th Avenue SE (Highway 1A East) and the viewer is looking east bound on 17th Avenue SE. The "Left Turn Only" lane takes vehicles onto Alberta Highway 2 North. Today the segment of Highway 2 passing through Calgary is known as Deerfoot Trail and it intersects with 17th Avenue SE just east of the Cushing Bridge. 17th Avenue SE, the original alignment of Highway 1, was designated Highway 1A in 1949 when Highway 1 was rerouted to follow 16th Avenue North.
