Sous-fonds consists of administrative and operational records, mostly of the Commission's predecessors, created, used and maintained by the Commission in fulfillment of its responsibilities for oversight of hospital administration and management of hospital building and expansion projects. The sous-fonds contains correspondence, hospital Board minutes, hospital returns, inspection files, ministerial orders, departmental personnel records, hospital equipment records and blueprints. The records have been arranged into the following series:;1. Commission administrative records from 1957 to 1970;2. Treasury Branches Loan Committee minutes from 1948 to 1952;3. Glenrose Hospital Board minutes from 1963 to 1966;4. K.H. Prittie Hospital records from 1944 to 1962;5. Personnel records from 1956 to 1970

Fonds consists of records created, used and maintained by the Department of Hospitals and Medical Care in the performance of the following functions:;- management and administration of hospital care programs;- planning and oversight of hospital construction and expansion of hospital facilities;- oversight of hospital administration and inspection of facilities;- administration of health care insurance programs;- planning of manpower needs for various health care professions and occupations;- provision of emergency air ambulance services;- disaster planning in regards to provincial health care facilities;- administration of research programs funded by the Alberta Heritage Savings Trust Fund;The fonds contains correspondence, reports, various types of audit project files, insurance and health care facility billing reports, hospital board minutes, records of various departmental committees, hospital construction project files, architectural drawings of hospitals and nursing homes, research project applications, and various statistical reports. The fonds consists of two sous-fonds:;1. Alberta Hospital Services Commission sous-fonds from 1946 to 1970;2. Alberta Health Care Insurance Commission sous-fonds from 1967 to 1974;The fonds has also been arranged into the following series:;1. Emergency air and ground ambulance records from 1959 to 1978;2.
