David Cargill McDonald fonds

Fonds illustrate the many facets of David McDonalds life including personal, legal, judicial, and political interests. Material included in this fonds are: personal and professional correspondence, appointment books, reasons for judgment, committee and commission papers, and published legal material. Papers document in particular McDonald's work on behalf of the University of Alberta, 1957-1996, the Liberal Association of Alberta, 1959-1973, his judicial career, 1973-1996, and his chairmanship of the Royal Commission on Certain Activities of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, 1977-1981. The fonds is divided into eight series and thirty-two sub series. The following series of records are included:;
1) Personal papers, 1944-1996; 2) Education related material, 1957-1996; 3) Professional papers, 1958-1996, predominant 1958-1974; 4) Liberal Party Association of Alberta records, 1959-1973; 5) Judicial affiliations; 6) Judicial papers, 1974-1996; 7) Royal Commission Concerning Certain Activities of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police records, 1977-1995, predominant 1977-1981. 8) Photographs and memorabilia;
These records have been arranged according to subject matter, with attempts; made to follow McDonald's file inventory as listed prior to his death. The David Cargill McDonald fonds details the interests and works of one of Alberta's most influential jurists.

Asa Milton Harradence fonds

Fonds illustrates the legal, political, and personal interests of Justice Asa Milton Harradence of the Alberta Court of Appeal. Records begin with the firm of Harradence and Company and continues through to his time at the Court of Appeal, as well as personal interests in politics, flying and the Canadian air force. The fonds has been arranged into five series: Harradence and company; Legal records; Reasons for judgment; Speeches; and Personal papers. The Harradence and company series consist predominately of textual records in the form of financial records depicting an Alberta criminal law practice from 1954 to 1979. The legal records series consists of bar admission transcripts, students memoranda from the Court of Appeal, legal research files, and items related to Harradence's 1996 retirement celebration. The third series, reasons for judgment, provides a comprehensive collection of judgments on cases sat on by Harradence, and from 1990 to 1996 the Court of Appeal as a whole. Personal material contains textual records, photographs and cultural artifacts from Harradence's personal interests in flying and politics, as well as honours given to him.

Ernest A. Marshall fonds

The fonds consists of materials created or collected by The Honourable Mr. Justice Ernest A. Marshall of Peace River and Edmonton and dating from 1933- 2001. The fonds includes text of a speech given by Marshall to the 97th Street Club, a study group for judges, entitled "Judicial Travels to Peace River J.D. in its Early Days"; a book of statutes collected by Marshall; a copy of a memoir about life in Peace River entitled "Early Days" written by the Hon. Carlton Clement, Q.C. a group photograph of the 1933 Law Society of Alberta Benchers; a political button supporting Peace River M.P. Gerald William Baldwin; the seal of William Stewart, Police Magistrate in Peace River from 1933- 1947, and other material.

Gordon Wright fonds

The fonds consists of material created by Gordon Wright of Edmonton from 1969-1989 and consists of two series: 1. Charter 77 (1979- 1981). This series consists of reports, bulletins, newsletters, news clippings, personal receipts, handwritten notes, correspondence, and other materials. The material relates to Wright's 1979 trip to Czechoslovakia to monitor the trial of Czech dissidents in the Charter 77 Movement- Committee for the Defence of the Unjustly Persecuted (V.O.N.S.). One of the six accused and sentenced to prison was Vaclav Havel, future president of the Czech Republic. 2. Correspondence (1969-1989). This series consists of correspondence relating to the Law Society of Alberta. The correspondence relates to trust undertakings; no-fault auto insurance; and proper grammatical use in the society's newsletter.

Peter Petrasuk fonds

The fonds consists of a campaign ribbon with the text "Go Trudeau Go Petrasuk Calgary North" from Peter Petrasuk's 1974 federal election campaign, and a poster of Mr. Petrasuk from his 1980 Calgary mayoralty campaign.
