Fonds consists of records created and collected during Mr. Sykes' three terms as Mayor of the City of Calgary, and personal files accumulated during his seven years in City Hall, consulting records after his term in office, publications and other material. The fonds is divided into five series including: (I) Political records, 1969-1978; (II) Administrative records, 1921, 1959-1960, 1963-1985, 1994; (III) Ceremonial records, 1969-1988; (IV) Personal, 1963, 1968-1984; (V) Press clippings, 1969-1977; (VI)Consulting records, 1973-1989; (VII)Publications, 1964-1985; and (VIII)Husky Tower records, 1967, 1996. Series I, II, III, IV and VI have been further subdivided due to the extent and nature of the records they contain.
